Took Delivery of my new Max28 this weekend, put 5.5 hrs on it so far. The first thing I noticed last night was that i wasn't sore from working all weekend like I am normally. So far I am loving it, just a quick question, to the other max28 owners, do you get a little HST whine when you are putting it under a load? all the fluids are topped off, so it's not that. I grew up with gear tractors, so maybe this is a normal sound?

Normal. It will be loudest if you are in high range and if the rpms are low. Welcome to TBN, that is a great tractor.

Thank you Dave, I suspected that was the case, just didn't want to break my new toy. :)

Mine is loudest in high gear at high speed. I got out to drive it around a few miles are varying speeds to just run it through the paces.

Congrats on your new purchase. I just took delivery of my 28 a couple of weeks ago. I picked up the backhoe as well and got the shuttle shift. I thought long and hard about shuttle vs HST. There are a lot of guys out there who swear by the ease of use with the HST. I was afraid that if I picked up the shuttle (which is what I thought I wanted) I would regret it after a few hours on it. The opposite has been true for me though. The shuttle works fine and is perfect for me. I'm not doing any mowing with it at this time and don't really plan to. I have a green x series that handles that for me just fine. Mine is focused on brush clearing, skidding logs and digging stumps at the moment.

I hope you have fun with it and it delivers what you need. Welcome

Eric

I really wanted to get the backhoe, but I just couldn't justify the extra cost. Maybe down the road I might pick one up. I have plenty of work for it, seems like a tough little machine.

It will be a heck of an install later. There's a few brackets to tie the frames together. It actually changes some of the bracketry that's needed for the mower deck as well I believe. My deck and MMM were not factory installed and I believe there were some issues getting the right combination.

I thought about the shuttle. I liked the idea of it but since I'm sure I'll have a few that want to help me use it along the way. I think I would have been happy either way.

Have any of your thought about a SSQA setup yet? If it weren't for the fact that I'm so busy with other projects I would have purchased one already.
