Today I took deliver of a new SR80 on a deal I've been working on for a long time. The first time it was delivered it wouldn't start, so it never made it off the truck. After replacing a seat switch and diode it was returned, it started and was unloaded. I ran it for about an hour when it shut down again. I tried to start it and ground hog day. The key energizes the system but no power to the starter system. Now I suspect that it is just another diode or safety switch but I am starting to lose confidence in this machine. My solution is to send it back to the factory, dealers or customers shouldn't have to bare the expense of troubleshooting electrical anomalies on brand new equipment.

JMF that stinks about your new machine..Ive been wondering if youd ever get it ..Dont fret, Things do happen-even brand new..If i recall that sr 80 has a split lap bar...Perhaps there are dual lap bar switches..Make sure they are down also Im sure you did but ive jumped in the cab of my machine twisting the key like no tomorrow and realized I still had the darn lap bar up!!

I'm not familiar with the ASV. But over the years I've learned the little ins and outs of my JCB. Not unlike the electric PTO switch on the dash of my Chevy C5500. Twice now in five years I've changed out the fuel filter because the PTO switch on the dash was hit. The last time it was by my dog. When the PTO switch is turned on the RPMs hit a limiter. The effect is exactly like what happens when the fuel filter is clogged.

So before you pull your hair out, step back, look to see if you accidently activated a function or have a safety item enabled. On the JCB there's a rocker switch for the float function. When you hit it accidently your boom function no longer works. You lift the boom and it falls right back down.

It's got to be something simple, something simple enough for you to bypass after warranty is over.

Today I found the fuse marked "Starter" was blown and I got a little excited until I changed it and it blew out again and again. There is something, like a starter, solenoid or safety switch that is not happy. Warranty repairs have payment limits so dealer shops tend to treat the symptom and not the cause.

I'm not mad and I can spit, so I guess my circumstances are different than lonecowboy. I'm sure it will get fix, I just hope there will be some sunshine left.

I know how you feel. It sucks when you buy a brand new machine and can't even use it because of a problem right off the bat. Hopefully your dealer will take care of the problem without having to haul the machine back to the shop.
