Just to be clear, don't tap the HST pedals while shifting (as one poster said), you'll get a grind since it is engaging while the HST is spinning. Tap, let off, then shift. I have to do it about 30% of the time when shifting into a gear.
Thanks for the clarification. After the first slight grind, I arrived at the same conclusion.

I practically stand on it when putting it on. ... but it is normal for this machine.
Not just "practically." It often takes standing and pulling on the steering wheel to get enough pressure.

The gearbox shield is not exactly designed to fail, but they're not particularly tough either.

Asking the dealer to take it back may not get you anywhere. If it was bent bad enough to bother you when it was delivered, you should have refused delivery. The dealer may refuse to do anything for you. If he does agree to take it back, he'll at least look at it as an unnecessary nit-pick and chalk up a strike against you. I'd rather save those bullets for when I really need them.

I had a tractor, backhoe, snowblower, chipper, rotary cutter, and post hole digger delivered together. Complete inspection of the post hole digger didn't really happen until after he left. The dealer offered to swap it out if I return it. Didn't seem like a big deal. The box was bent enough that even getting the bolt that fell out back in was a wrestling match. Seems reasonable to want new equipment not bent beyond a certain level. I want to be the one to mangle it. I am exchanging the Agriease for a Rankin phd300. I am hoping it is an upgrade in terms of construction.

Your advice makes sense - although I would have imagined that they could design a gear shift which didn't require a "sweet spot". I will add some WD40 to boot as you recommend, see what happens, and report back. Thanks for the advice.

Not sure he meant WD40 when he said spray lube. I don't know the answer, but WD40 is as much a solvent as a light lubricant, so you may end up flushing the OEM lube out and be worse off.

Yes, that is what I have read too. I bought some Seafoam Deep Creep and believe this to be better based on what I have read. Do you agree?

Thanks for the warning.

I didn't clarify, but no not WD because it evaporates and leaves nothing behind. Deep Creep is most likely ok(have not tried that one yet), but I like Blaster products. I hit things that are sticking first with regular Blaster, then follow up with their Lithium grease spray. Liquid Wrench has a good one out too....called Lubrication Oil.

The only way I can see that lubing the selector would help is if you find it resisting going into neutral. That would tell you that it is the lever sticking. If it is only resisting going into range, then the hiccup is in the gearbox. I would actually hope that lube sprayed on the selector wouldn't find its way into the gearbox.

If a lack of lube in the gearbox is causing you to have problems selecting a range, then I think you have a bigger problem than a squirt of oil-in-a-can is going to fix.

I've driven a couple multi-range HSTs and they all required a quick pedal tap to find gear from time to time. I think it is just comes with the territory.

Haven't used Deep Creep, but I love the name! Unless others here have experience lubricating that particular linkage, I think I'd give a call to the dealer's service manager for a recommendation.

Further to my post, I hadn't read back to see that several others have already recommended Deep Creep for this. Sounds fine to me!

I think the finicky shifting must be a no-extra-cost option on Kioti, as mine has always been that way. By far, however, my biggest irritation with the controls is the throttle!!!!!! OMG!!! The amount of force required to move this thing is absolutely unbelievable ....

Better that than too loose! The definitely didn't want it to vibrate out of the set position!
