Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCHA.MI) (FCAU.N) will invest $1 billion to retool and modernize two plants in the U.S. Midwest, including one that would be able to make the Ram heavy-duty pickup truck currently produced in Mexico, it said on Sunday. The automaker said the investment would create more than 2,000 production-related jobs. The company also said it planned to add three new Jeep models, including a pickup truck, to its product lineup and make them in the United States.


I wonder what size it will be. They've made pickups from CJ/Wrangler size, compact sized, to full-sized in the past.

They may not want any more full size competition (for the Dodge side) and use the Wrangler platform. What was the last one, a Scrambler of cj 8?

Not sure what a Jeep pickup would be or do, that other pickup maker's are't doing or done. Cant just put the Jeep label on something and expect it to sell and what they did to the new Jeep Cherokee terrible, looks like a Subaru on steroids.

Been said their is two types of Jeep owners.....them that love 'em and them that hate 'em I just traded my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland......and it was NOT for another Jeep. Been there / done that......and not going back.

My wife drives the same vehicle. We've had a lot of electrical problems including engine stall unexpectedly....

I think a Jeep pickup will sell. They have their own market share. After 3 or 4 suspect models, I think it might be the way to go. It might steal some buyers from the 4 door wrangler.

Count me in as a Love em type. Owned a Jeep of one type or another since 2001. 0 issues.

I've owned a bunch of Jeep Cherokees and have a love hate relationship with them. A pickup or a Wrangler type vehicle with a 4 cylinder turbo diesel would be sweet. With the Rubicon drive train it would crawl over just about anything and cheap on fuel doing it.

Terry wanted a new GC diesel but couldn't make the budget work. She bought a used hemi. It's a very comfortable traveling vehicle. Pulls a car trailer very easily.

We've had several electrical problems with one still lingering. Seems the 2011 model year is plagued with those.
