I am going shopping for a JD 4410. With 4 WD,EHydro, backhoe, loader,PH digger and a mower I have not decided on. I will mow 4 acres of rough lawn. Mid mount or grooming which would also go into the woods and make a trail for hunting, should I get a brush hog type in addition to a mid mount? Any guess on a price for all this?

Lou,

My dealer said I could use my midmower. I guess after trying to mow just tall grass with no branches or stumps I would not do it. Keep your midmower for your finish work.

My opinion only

Yes, save that expensive mid-mount mower for light grassy stuff...

A 5' generic rotary cutter should be in the ballpark of $550-600. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Lou,

I am not so sure that we answered all of you questions. You got some answers on the mowers but not on the pricing.

As far as pricing, you can go to the John Deere Web page they have a pricing calculator. That will give you the manufactures suggested retail price. You should be able to buy less than that. Unless you are totally sold on John Deere, I would go out and get some competitive bids on other brands. You don't have to buy the other brands but you can use them as a bargaining tool. Also don't be afraid to get some prices from two Deere dealers. You would be surprised what you might find.

I'm picking up my new Deere 4110 tomorrow. I bought mine with the 410 FEL, HST, folding ROPS, R4s, 60"mmm with mulching conversion kit, Frontier 5' box scraper, Frontier 6' rake with wheels, and Frontier 6' rear blade. I almost forgot, I also had them put a block heater in.
I'm really looking forward to picking it up. I've got 6 acres with about 1.5 acres of yard and the rest timber. I'm planning on doing a lot of landscaping around the yard and trail construction through the timber.
For reference, the price for the tractor, the FEL, and the 60" mmm was $15,975. I priced the setup between 2 dealers and went with the lower of the two. The dealer that was lower just happened to be my hometown dealer that I know fairly well. I now live about 2 hours away from my hometown, but I REALLY trust this guy. It didn't hurt that his price was lower than the Deere dealer thats just a few miles away from me now. I know the Frontier stuff is a little higher priced than other makers, but it looks heavy duty, it's green, and it was one stop shopping!
Let me know if you want the prices I paid for the implements.

Heath,

It looks like you did alright in your pricing. And buying from a dealer you can trust even if he is a ways away.

There is one thing you have to do when you get home. Get some pictures posted here of that new rig.

Have fun and keep in touch here on TBN

After reading hundreds of post I am going for a MMM with Mulcher, 72 bush hog, FEL, back hoe, PH digger, block heater, some kind of "york" rake. I will be cleaning up 16 acres of forest that is getting immpassable and a very wet 4acre lawn that needs drainage added. I will be retireing in2004 and need something to keep me busy this should do it. March 8 is open house at KC Canary thats when I will be going.

LouG, You are making me jealous about a backhoe. I'd love one, especially now that I'm going to build a new home. Their just so "Gosh Darn expensive".
Good luck, have fun, enjoy your retirement, and most of all,
Welcome to the board and post some pic's!
Kyle

P.S.
Lookup Sleepyhollow, he has a 4310 w/ backhoe and long list of goodies. Someone to compare pricing with anyway. He posted some really good pic's a while back.
