Husqvarna GT52xls
Just bought a 2018 (Demo) GT52xls.....Right Away the issues have started.... Had delivered on Sat, and imknew it started cause I cold started it that morning. Was Rough cause chock, spring wasn稚 quite strong enough to close, but was changed before delivery....Delivered, drove around again before parking for,the week....rained all week. We jjusr built a new house, so there tons of rough grading (bought Sleeve hitch Rake, and Grading BladeS) to start grading rough ground, spreading backfills and top soils, etc. So Last Saturday, one week after I got it, I go out to start it up to do some rough testing and adjustment on ground engaging equip. And the **** thing won稚 start, Koch, Nada Won稚 Fire. Call Dealer on Monday.morning, comes gets it. Delivers on Thursday, says Wire to choke was bad. Any he replaces it, get it home,. This Saturday, i go out, all ready to do some serious yard work, Tractor Fires Up 1st Time, Let her warm up, as itS actually cold here in Yulee Florida for a change (50degrees). Once she痴 warm, I attach the Rack 1st to take out into yard to make adjustments to the Hitch and Rake itself. Move to a Level area of the lot, Drop the Rake, hit the Forward pedal, give her the gas,.....she goes about 10? with about 3粕 high dirt/debris in front of rake tynes, and Tractor IMMEDIATELY begins to barely Crawl, and I mean barely.....I have throttle Wide Ope, Forward Pedal Pushed as far as it値l go.....barely moving. Lift rake To disengage resistance....tractor moves on slight faster. Go away about 10? hit reverse Pedal, and tractor goes faster backwards than forwards. Find another new clean, level area to rake, from it, give it the gas, forward pedal....5 movement...stops going forward at all. Lift rake, head to garage, shut dow it down, go find manual to research trans purge again....just In case they didn稚 purge the trans before correctly. I ran thru, the Purging Process twice, just to be sure. Fire it back up, find a NEW area to grade with very little debris,..go about 10 again, and again **** thing come to a basic stop....lift Rake. ...Put in reverse to back up over same area.stopped, hit forward pedal. Now **** thing is LOCKED UP IN REVERSE. BACKED into Garage, Called Dealer to Come get this POS....thank God It誕 under Full Warranty. Now, that I致e gotten that Off my chest, Anyone Have any ideas? 1stly, I am Absolutely not a fan at all of the these Automatic Transmissions...right away I,miss my Craftsman痴 Manual Trans....you couldn稚 kill that thing if you tried. Everything I researched about this tractor, says it痴 build for Ground Engaging Attachements, so it should be able to pull rakes and grader blades....

Thanks For heading me out.

Looking forward to,suggestions.

I read this post and almost just ignored it.
So you have a 24 hp lawn tractor with a hydrostatic transmission,
this is not an automatic like you have in your car, it will not downshift to a lower gear if you mash the forward pedal all the way down,
when that pedal is all the way ahead or down that is your lawn mowers highest/fastest gear.
It is never going to pull large loads of debri with your rake.
To get the most pulling power from the very limited amount that you have,
gently advance the throttle lever to full throttle after it has had a couple minutes of light load to warm up with,
at that point slightly advance your forward foot feed to start moving forward,
lower your rake and keep going as your rake fill gradually lift it.
If you press your forward pedal more then a 1/4 of it's forward travel you will mopst likely bog the unit out.
Continually doing so will over heat and ruin your transmission.
Hydrostatic foot pedals amount to placing a manual transmission in a higher gear the futher forward it is pushed,
the less pedal movement the lower/slower more pulling power effective gear.

Thanks for your informative input. Question. How is one to properly explain circumstances of problems if they don’t have “Run On Posts”?

Regards.

I read the whole post - verbose as it is. I think all the newer mowers have a hydrostatic transmission. My old Craftsman does not. They were classified as garden tractor and lawn tractor. The garden tractor supposedly has a heavier rear end. I hope that's what you got. In any case it may not be the tool for your job. Be sure to follow the recommendation for small application of the pedal for lowest "gear". I believe the same is true for the hydrostatic transmission in larger tractors.

the Hydro-Gear G7 is a very good transmission, with good reviews. being that the tractor was a demo, there shouldn't be many hours on it..

I own one of these, have never had a problem with it. Then again, I just mow with it. Does a great job at mowing.
Lot's of info on various forums about the deception that has been foisted upon the buying public in regard to "Garden Tractor" titles being assigned to modern machines that are nothing more than mowers.
The GT52XLS is oft pointed to as one of those machines.

What Transaxle does your unit have? Does it have Locking diff?
