It's been a LONG SUMMER and Fall.

We purchased 5 acres and a new double wide in Carter County, KY. Work 101 from the get go!

I'll get some pics ASAP. The land was hill top and we had to clear about 1/2 for the home and a yard. We have plenty of brushpiles and firewood for sale!

The drive, and road are both works in progress having never been a road or drive, just a trial across an old hayfield and a ATV trail. It's amazing that 12 tons of limestone on the driveway disappeared after the first rain to amount to anything in months! We have since added another 20 ton and need another load as soon as we have the extra dollars.

We lived on the land in our 5er for about six weeks and ran a generator in the evenings for about 5 of those weeks and then the power company came to do their thing.

Anyhow, missed ya, and the lil' 'Bota has been a workhorse!

More. We have bush hogged a bit, cut a goodly amount of firewood and have several nice oak and hickory logs.

The logs we plann on running to the log buyers in the area, we just don't feel like spliting the logs for firewood (no splitter either), and we can use the dollars (ain't much house selling going on right now).

We had a really nice fire ring built from the rocks we found on the place, but we've had a no burning ban for months.... finally I've been able to burn some of the brush piles. I'm just burning smaller fires to be safe since it's always a bit breezy.

Working on getting the "yard" leveled, er rolling over the edges to the woodland and road, but it's goona take sometime. We are expecting to have dirt delivered as soon as the weather breaks to finish covering the drain lines, low spots and next to the block foundation.

There's several spots for the garden, a small one is all we want this year, but who knows what I'll do.

My studio is still at my old place, it's 2 storage buildings (10X10 and 10X12) that are bolted together... ah gonna unbolt it and haul it out first chance. The 10x10 will be a storage building and the 10x12 will be the new studio. We have enough room for a barn too!! Gotta sell a few homes to make that happen, but need to build a tractor shed.

Again, pics to come soon.

Where the camper sits, and we lived for about 6 weeks (wife a 3 year old and myself). Nice rig too 35' 5er with 1.5 baths! Wanna buy it? You can notice some of logs we're gonna sell to the side.

The back of the house you can see the 'Bota with the 4' no name BB that's been a workhorse.

The front, the unfinished porch (got any fill material?), and you can see we need a bit of dirt and a lot of grass seed!

Congratulations!! The pictures are great, it looks like an beautiful setting. Keep taking pictures and in a few years, nobody will believe what it looked like when you started.

For gravel to work, it needs to be four inches thick. I found that a 25 to 27 ton load of limestone would give me about 100 feet of driveway. I had 8 belly loaders into my place when doing my driveway and used 200 tones to do 800 feet. It's been over three years with over 12 feet of rain in that time and it's all holding up really good.

If you put down the rock to thin, it won't lock together properly and just wash away when it rains. Every time you drive over it, it moves and works itself apart. When it's 4 inches thick, it becomes locked together and one solid mass.

Thanks Eddie! Our gravel just mashes down! Ha, we got a lot of gravel to go to get that 4" thick!! I just didn't realize how much it took on "a new drive".

BTW, I've always enjoyed your posts on all the things you have going on. Thanks!
