When you say right or left, it is relative. Your right/left should be referenced as though you were standing behind the baler looking towards the tractor. Can you clarify?

Oops - just saw you are doing this.

To get more hay to the left, the feeder fingers need to move to the right. Counterintuitive, but gives a larger charge of hay into the chamber - the manual speaks to this adjustment. Also feed windrow into the pickup next to the bale chamber. A New Holland baler likes a good bit of hay in the pickup, just don't jam it. If you don't have heavier windrows, i.e. double raked in thinner crops, make them. Also pickup a gear to fill the pickup. Run at 540 PTO rpms.

In addition, make sure the 3 hay dogs and their springs are there and working. You should have 4 vertical triangular wedges, 2 each side in the bale chamber.

Stick with it - the 68 cam make a brick just like a new baler.

Adjusted the feeder fingers a couple more times during the second cutting and the bales are coming out great now. Thanks for the suggestions on all the different things that can prevent making a "square" square bale.

However, by the time I was done baling, it was evident the clutch needs work. Today I cleaned out the baler and lubed it up then took the clutch apart. One of the friction discs was almost completely gone-rubbing metal to metal in some spots. One disc still looks pretty good. Looks like it is simply a 1/16" piece of gasket sheet and the New Holland dealer wants $80 for a new one. Anybody rebuilt a clutch using gasket material from an auto parts store instead of using the New Holland part?
