Skid shoes are wear items. Proper header flotation adjustment will maximize skid shoe life, but at the end of the day shoes are still wear items.

Ok, I wondered if that’s why it could be. It’s right under where the sickle bolts to the wobble box.

The skid shoe part #216426 should have prevented this from wearing through.

The 'official' bolt head is thinner that normal. I just replaced my bolt and knife bushing because they dropped down out of the cutter bar and the skid shoe sheared the bolt head off. Another time, I lowered the head too quickly and the header slammed to the concrete driveway and same thing occurred. Skid shoe was bent. You may get some relief from setting the header to a higher position. Some like to cut all the hay they can get but wind up with extra dirt, stones, branches and 'stuff'. When the foot gets thin, it will bend into a collision position. BTW: the bolt goes up (nut on top, like yours is). I've seen what happens when somebody installed it upside down.

looked to me like an access hole to get at that bolt.
