Do you have to make more than one pass?

i just ran my high flow 72 inch bobcat blower with around 5 inches of medium density snow. i could keep the cruise at 4.8mph on level ground in order to keep the rpms up/blower working well. i ran it in 10-12 inches but had to slow down to 2-3mph

I make only one pass when using the blower unless it is deep enough that it is falling over the sides or over the top of the blower. Although I travel much slower using the blower than using the bucket it generally gets the job done quicker. When I use the bucket I make lots of passes and usually at a pretty good clip too. Unless I am in a hurry the bucket is more fun.....more seat and I get to make great big piles, hahahaha.

Hi all!
Just found this forum the other day. While I'm new to this group, the toolcat is nothing new. I bought mine in November 2003. It's got about 750 hours on it now. We live on a farm and use it almost everyday for something. Looks like I might get run out of here for saying this, but, the only bobcat attachment we have is the standard bucket. I made my forks, round bale spear, finishing mower, and bought a Schulte snowblower for it. I like most of the bobcat attachments but unless I win a lottery, I'll never buy them. These get lots of use (and abuse sometimes) and have worked very well. Other than the axle changeups, this one has had nothing but regular servicing done to it.

Glad to read you are all enjoying yours as much as we do.
Take care.

How did you make the mower? Do you have any pictures?

This an "early prototype"!! I had a deck that I rescued from the scrap heap and used some of it and the spindles. It was a side discharge so I had to convert it. Later changed the drive and mounting system on it. I'll try to get some more pics in the summer. Several feet of snow here now!

Wow that's a protoype? Looks pretty darn good! Did it come with a hydraulic drive system on it?

No, I had a big hydraulic motor kicking around and used it. It's too slow for this application so had to speed it up with a large drive sprocket. Should redo it again, but it's mowed a 5 acre berry patch for over 2 seasons now so I'll likely leave it until something breaks. I used a belt drive on it first, but, unlike a riding mower, the toolcat gives little or no feeling of how hard you're working the mower. This resulted in belts going up in smoke easily. I changed it to chain primary drive and it works good. If you push it now, either the cut quality goes down (blades), the hydraulic relief starts to chirp a bit, or the blade belts will slip. In the meantime, it's ok for now. Even with these limitations, I'm not giving up cruise control and air conditioning for swatting mosquitos in a cloud of dust!!

Redneck engineering!!

Here's one taken last year. Not really good but you get the idea. It's a 74". I think it's sits a little farther forward than the bobcat version.....

Judging from the picture it doesn't look like it sits any farther forward than the Bobcat unit I have. Actually looks very similar to the Bobcat blower.

Looks like you did a nice job to me. Is the quick attach mount rigid or can it oscillate independent of the Toolcat? I plan to convert a 3pt flail mower for use with the Toolcat. I hope my project turns out as well as yours.

It's totally free to float in any/all directions. I did it using three link arms with ball pivots on each end. Two mount parallel to "push" the mower, while the third is a diagonal transverse link to control side to side movement. This is not the setup in the pic. It used a ball/socket type setup with limiting chains. It worked ok but I think this is better.
