High tensile wire is too light for brace wire. Use #9.

That is just plain bad information. That's all I've ever used, double wrapped on a long pull, single wrapped on a short pull.

Of all the things I've had to replace when fixing fence I have built, my brace wires were never one of them.

And BTW we tighten woven wire with a tractor.

Nice fence. Looking forward to watching your progress as you post more pics.

What brand of fence wire are you using, Agriman? The label looks like it says Stay-Tuf?

All in all do you think a driver much better/easier than a post hole digger?

Yes Sir! No doubt about it, even an old driver is better than an post hole digger. Especially the manual kind.

I have always used #9 for brace wire. I do not know the gauge of high tensile. I have always strung woven wire.

Hi tensile wire is 12.5 gauge and 200k psi rated.
#9 brace wire is 9 gauge and 40k psi rated.

That doesn't sound right.

Give me a minute to switch to my lap top and I'll provide a link.

***EDIT***

210,000 PSI, 12.5 gauge high-tensile wire

I'm still looking for the #9 tensile strength.

***EDIT PART2***

I cant seem to find a rating on just the brace wire. The only thing I can find is a woven wire with #9 top and bottom wires. Those are rated at 70K PSI.

You have 12.5 gauge wire rated higher than 9 gauge wire. #9 is heavier than 12.5 gauge.
