New F-150 Motor Lineup

Probably should have reread your post before posting. I do know that it seems that every time Ford comes up in a discussion you bash the 5.4. There are many vehicles I don't like but I try not to bash.
You see it as bashing, I see it as voicing my opinion. You apparently have blinders on to not see DiamondPilot's "opinion voicing" on anything Chrysler related whenever that appears...

If you go back and read many of my post, including early on in this thread, I have clearly stated I would be proud to have a Hemi powered Challenger sitting in my garage. Thats the only Chrysler product that does anything for me. I tried to buy one 2 years ago but the dealers in my area were stuck on the price. They acted like taking $500 off sticker was doing me a favor.

Even though I had nothing but trouble out of my sold Chrysler/Dodge product I have owned and our company cars we had about 7 years ago, a Dakota, 6 300's, and a few Grand Cherokees were noting but trouble, the local dealer and Chrysler took good care of us. Maybe it was our local dealer but they were nice to work with. Dakota=AC and tranny issues plus the radio stopped working. 300's had tranny issues, AC issues, and power steering pumps. Grand Cherokees had rear end issues.

Notice the 300 C in the background, very similar to the Challenger, just has 4 doors. People perceptions of problems vary. A car or truck they love, they put up with what they perceive as minor problems. Someone else may have the same problems and call them junk.

I get to drive Chrysler products almost daily as work vehicles. We get a new van every couple of years and I have yet to drive one I liked. The seats are uncomfortable. I am exhausted after a couple of hours of driving. I would rather drive either of my Ford trucks and one is 18 years old. As to blinders my wife currently has a Nissan for a few more months and I have owned two GM cars.

With the engine I would want, the twin turbo V6, it can tow 11,300# properly equipped. Pretty impressive.
Its almost hard to fricken believe. The twin-turbo V6 will out tow the 5 liter V8 by a ton.

Can the tow rating be upgraded officially after you purchase the vehicle? Since the chassis supports the extra ton, could you buy a 5.0, put a Roush Supercharger on it, and get it reclassified? Yes, I see why this would be stupid from an MPGs standpoint, but I'm just curious.

I'll say. If I were to add brakes to the trailer, my '97 Volvo V90 (aka 960 Wagon) would be rated to tow more than the Mustang, Tarus, MKS, Grand Marquis, Escape/Mariner (3/4 configurations) and 4 of the 6 Explorer variants.
It is rated to tow a 1100# trailer without brakes or a 3300# trailer with brakes. IIRC the cars I owned before getting it ('93 Volvo 940 and '89 740 Wagons) were rated to tow the same loads. See https://www.customers.volvocars.com/owners/docs/1997/1997_960/97960_905.htm#9:9 for details.

You would still be limited by the GCWR. So the answer is no.

Thats probably the best/easiest towing guide I've read. Pretty clearly states all capabilities and defines some of the common mistakes like the different ratings of weight carrying and weight distributing capacities.

Also looks like the new F150 is a beast. But it does look like you need to order the heavy payload option, which puts you into that 7 lug/wheel monster. I have not seen a newer truck with that package, but have seen the older "7700 package" or prior to that the LD F250. They were the ugliest things to hit the streets since the Thing!
