MikePa, Rch,
Mike, I knew that?

Rch, We used a mirror once on a utlilty truck mount. It was
always dirty, and if you wiped it off a lot, the dust soon
caused it to be hard to read because the dust acted like
fine sand paper. Not my idea to use the mirror. Truck mfg.
did it in their factory when they mounted them. I ended up
making a mold and new model for them. I finished the new
dual axis modified version about ah hour ago. I hope to post
a picture tomorrow. Got a really bad cold and gotta get some
rest. Been here since six this morning and it's now 9:15.
Later Guys.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzsnorezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hi Guys,
Here's the new model on left, and original on right.
I shifted scale 5 degrees higher, tilted body back 5 degrees,
and made numbers larger and X10.

Thanks,
Rick

I think the larger numbers will make it easier for old foggies, of which I am rapidly becoming one of. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Rick
I have been following the discussions up to last Thursday when I called my optometrist because I was having some flashes in my right eye. Long story short 12 hours later I was on the operating table in Toronto have a scleral buckle installed in my right eye to correct a detached retina. Looks like I am OFF tractors for a month or two - /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif until this eye thing clears up. Will keep watching the post with my good eye and will happily add anything once I get my meter installed. To date you have gotten some great ideas and I like the 10X scale - old fogey eys I guess.

Just wanted you to know I wasn't crapping out on providing feedback - I may get my neighbour to try it our in the meantime.

Thanks

bob

Dourobob,
Hey guy, don't give it a second thought. Take care of the
eyes. If you are not able to provide any feedback at all, I
totally understand. I do not expect you to.
My business partner Brenda just had cataract surgery on one eye last
week, at 35 yrs. old. Gets other eye July 3rd. Doctor said
he had never heard of it at such a young age. Take care,
Rick

Rick, love the changes! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

How will this connect to the tiltmeter? Still on one side?

Hi Mke,
I plan to offer two placement options for the dual axis part.
One on the side, and one on top. Not sure how to go about
it though. Two part numbers, and buyer must request
which one he wants? Confusing? I do not like the idea of
allowing customer to mount it himself. Needs to be done
correctly, or it will not be accurate. I have also dampened
the pendulum slightly more. Still swings freely. But can not
take much more out of it without causing a drag or hang-ups.
It will never work as well as side to side unit due to different
design. May make more elaborate design someday. Not
any time soon. Need to concentrate on selling for awhile, and
not so much on making new things. Hope everyone likes the
new dual axis changes. Thanks, Rick

I got the replacement back plate! That's again for such great service. Can I please help you out by sending back the screws etc that I don't use? I feel guilty!

Rick,
Just went on your site and do not see the 25SDA available for online purchase. Is it ready for sale yet? I think it is just what I need for peace of mind on my hilly 5 acres...(see photo)

Hi GaryG,
I think Muhammad will have the 2x on TBN site soon.
BTW, love your picture. Looks like a cool place. Have you
thought about trading the tractor for a billy goat??? Just
kidding! The 2x will have a limited number available at first,
and will have a special introductory price not available
anywhere except to you guys on TBN. Thanks Gary, Rick

Rick,
That is why I need your little device. All my land is not that level. I am planting trees and ground cover on all the slopes. I'll watch the store for your tiltmeter. Thank You

Rick.....hope the fishing was good........and Brenda didnt skunk you........

Just put the dual axis to the test today........10-25 degree slope for 5 acres. Part in pasture and part in the woods......couldnt really turn around in the pasture and went on up through the woods clearing it out till I could tell from the vertical axis that it was okay to turn and make a horizontal move...........SO good to KNOW what one is doing instead of just PRAYING more than normal for HIS grace.......thanks .........Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Yes, Brenda caught the biggest and most AGAIN! BUT, I am
the one that showed her what lure to use, and where to cast
it. Seriously, she is pretty good. Where was she when I was
fishing tournaments? Would have made a good team.
Now, how did the dual axis part work for you? I realize the
pendulum is not as stable as the ball, but is it helpful in your
operation? My hope is that the dual axis part compliments the
ball indicator, and combined, they make a good tool even
better. What is your opinion? Thanks, Rick

/ NEW DUAL AXIS SLOPE INDICATOR #76
Rick.......the dual axis is what I am referring to as the horizontal and vertical...........NO the ball (actually the line on your new what I call vertical device) doesnt bounce around to much because I am going verrrrrry slowly on the hills and turns.........I call it the vertical axis because it measures my up and down plane.............
Accuracy of installation is totalllllllllllllllly..........TOTALLY critical......My whole property is on a hillside so finding a level spot is really hard to do..........I need to find someplace to do this properly as my horizontal reads heavy on one side and when traversing the same slope it reads differently at the same spot..........in the vertical axis I KNOW that I am off by 3-4 degrees..........so what do I do.....mentally compensate until I do it right.........
When mounting I had a hard time getting the total unit where I could see it; the old unit is angled at maybe 10-15 degrees from straight up and down......I took the new vertical device off carefully and used the double tape and placed it at "true" vertical.........Hey a thought!!!!!!!.........how about putting a surface on the end of the horizontal device.....maybe an inch or two square of plastic........the consumer mounts the horizontal device where they need and want it..........then......THEY ......using the excellent douple sided tape you supply, place the vertical device on this plastic surface where they can see it........at they angle they need to achieve level...........anyway......THANKS.......again......the best use is for when going up hill KNOWING that you can safely turn around..........Dennis
