DK40
Hi,
I m new here, just bought me a DK40 after a lot of hesitating, since Kioto is still unknown where I live (Belgium, Europe)... it is reading your forum and good comments that persuaded me to go for the Kioti instead of the New Holland TCE model.

I have a small Concern though ... there is a strange buzzing coming from the powersteering when the engine is warm, it doesnt have that when cold.
The dealer tells me its nothing to worry about (something about the filters which dont give enough oil when warm (should be gone after first service at 50h.... but in not really convinced by his explanation
Regards

If anything, I would expect a noice from cold fluid as it would have a thicker viscosity and should be allowed to warm before using hydraulics.

A "buzzing" sound is difficult to understand from a typed perspective, but most hydraulics make some noises, so I'm not sure it's an adventitious noise or a normal one.

The filters should give all the lubrication possible from the beginning, and would only be in that situation if they were old and clogged up. The dealer is full of bull.

Check the level and make sure it's between the marks on the stick. Also, it could have air in the system which should be self bleeding, but when you hear the noise, run all of your hydraulic through their functions a few times to help bleed the air.

If the noise continues, make the dealer prove his theroy by changing out the filters and fluids at his cost. Try another on his lot to see if it does the same thing, if not, it's a warranty issue that should be dealt with sooner than later.

Thx for your feedback John.
I should have added that it makes the sound when i don't touch the steering wheel; when i turn the wheel a little the the left or right the sound stops. Could that be as you suggest air in the system?

I suppose it could be, but without being able to hear the sound, it's too difficult to just guess. It could be a pump problem, or a sound that is normal for the tractor, although I doubt that. I've noticed lots of different sounds between brands.

One thing I would check is to make sure that ALL of the hydraulic connectors are firmly seated.

You will hear a lot more hydro noise if you have the wheels turned all the way to the stops, not something to do for long periods.

I think a comparison with another DK40 would be more telling than my guesses. I don't remember ever hearing the like on a DK35 which is basically the same setup.

There is a separate power steering pump on that model, and I'm not sure if it's supposed to be self-bleeding or not, but probably is.

I wish I could be of more help.
