New Chainsaws

I originally bought the so called FARM BOSS MS290 and I kept it 4 months, then I traded it for a Husky 55. I previously had a STIHL 025 that ran super. The reason for this was that the FARM BOSS was too bulky and heavy, yet it was all plastic (the STIHL dealer sucked me in his promo deal). Anyways, the STIHL also ran louder and the engine stalled a few times too many when I throttle it up before cutting (It wasn't my bad mix!). I refused to fiddle with the [censored] carb. So someone offered me 200$ for it and I sold it right there. The husky is a joy to operate and lighter, a hair less in power, but more durable in my opinion then the Stihl since it has more metal. Going to get the 13lbs Husky 372xp this year to rattle some neighboors.

(former Stihl)

P.S. Like the all-orange look better too!

I too have the O26,I had a choice between the Farm boss and the O26,........for what it is worth I was told the O26 was more for commercial use, like what the Department of Highways use.I cannot prove that but that is what I was told.I have no regrets with buying a Stihl O26

I agree, the 026 is the bad boy, the Farm Boss while their top seller is probably not the saw the 026 is. I also like the fact the Husky Farm Tough 55 is a tad bit lighter. The Husky model that compares to the 026 I think would be the 351 which is what started this thread, both are great saws as is the 026 and yes I think it is intended to be a commercial quality saw. The consumer version is the 025, more plastic, still a tough little saw that runs great.
Love dem saws. J

I have a 24" Stihl 360 pro that I beat the heck out of, and it has never failed me.
I paid $300 for it used with about 20 hours on it.
For light stuff I use my old Homelite 240, but when it gets to be real work ... the 360 eats it up.

i really don't think you can go wrong with either Husky or Stihl.they both make an excellent product.Stihl will be redoing a lot of models for 2010 thanks to the Environmental Prostitution Agency.many favorite models will be gone.As for Husky, the 372xp will be no longer after this year.in my opinion, this is one of the best saws ever made.the last replacement for it was a flop, the 575xp.the new one better be night and day.

your available dealers locally is a big factor in what brand to purchase.

i have a tree service.i use mostly husky except for the pole saw and top handle climbing saws i use stihl.i also bought the Stihl electric bench chain sharpener.

the first new saw i ever bought was a 55 rancher at lowes.great saw.only problem i ever had was a fuel line this year.that is the governments fault, not husky or lowes.i also bought a husky line trimmer there.has been the most reliable piece of equipment i have had.weighs nothing and screams.

you 026 owners and fans should check out the New Edition Husqvarna 346xp.make sure it's the 50cc version.this saw is sick.amazingly smooth and fast.

by the way.i agree on stihl chain.it is the best and i run it on all my saws.
