New Cab Tractor

I bought my B3030 new in '08. It is like new with 280 hrs and has been a great tractor. My problem is that I would like a cab, back hoe and possibly a little larger machine. I have been looking at the B3000 cab that is the same size and hp of the B3030. The other option is the GL3240 cab which is a much larger machine. Other than the price difference I would like to hear what you all think.

I can't advise about the B series, but I have a 3240 w/o a cab. I think the 3240 would be underpowered with the added weight of a cab. Where I live is hilly and I'm also @3000ft, which reduces HP some. If you live closer to sea level, HP may be less of a problem.

I agree. I owned a B3030 cab model prior to my current Grand L3240hst which is open station.

The B had a better power to weight ratio. If you want a cab Grand L I would jump to a L3540 or 3940. The L is a much heavier duty tractor with a nicer loader. Make sure you get the 724 loader if getting a L.

Thanks for the good advice. After spending time the dealer yesterday I'm leaning twords the 3540 right now but the 3940 does look good too. I'll keep you all posted.

If price is not a big issue in your decision. The 3940 is a couple hundred pounds heavier, and slightly wider, this, I would think, would tend to make it more stable. The extra weight, would about negate the 3-1/2HP increase, between it and the 3540. Since the weight difference appears to be in the tractor rather than the cab it should have a lower center of gravity. Make sense?
You also get a little more PTO HP.

I pulled the plug on the new machine yesterday. L3540 Cab, 724 Loader with QA, Curtis plow blade, BH 92 Backhoe. Getting it from Emerich in Charlton, NY. Great folks to deal with.
