For those of you who are running Mitsubishi LS's now, do you find they have enough power, etc. to do what you need? Also, I had asked an earlier question about paint, have any of you had issues with bleaching, peeling, etc. (other than what Lilblue already pointed out)?

Paint on the tractor itself is holding up excellent as I have had mine for 1 year and haven't been shy driving in the woods through heavy trees while bush hogging to clear my blueberry fields, and while cutting and yarding logs out of woodlot. Actually I am pleasantly surprised at how scratch resistant the panels are since I have driven through heavy tree cover and doesn't seem to affect paint finish. As I mentioned my loader brackets before, the paint flaked but LS took care of that by giving me a new loader and brackets at 105 hours. I do keep the tractor in the barn so the sun is not beating on it all day, but the ones at the dealerships all seem to be in good shape as they are outside and I drive by them everyday as the dealership is 3.5 miles down the road.

Hope this helps.

As a dealer, our experience with LS has been great. in 14 months we have seen 2 warranty issues on the 15 S3010s we have sold, a tach cable and a seat hinge. Like our KIOTIs the paint holds its shine very well. If stored outside, the grey plastic may fade some but other than that they seem to hold up well. although we have not had them sit for long. The price is going up again on the S3010 so if you want one, don't wait too long. LS has used special pricing and free loaders as a drawing card for the line, but the price has been inching upward over the last year and goes up again Jan 1. As dealers, as we replace our stock, we will have to go up on the price so there may not be a better time to pick one up.

Sorry about not jumping in sooner, been busy with the 17 guest for the holidays.
I just cant say enough about the deals on LS. I was initially looking at a 50 HP tractor and got the P7010C for about the same price as a 50 HP in the NH brand. I think I have said before that my Kubota dealer was so busy that he would not return my phone calls. One day I plan to take a photo of my LS to him and thank him for not bidding. JD was so far out of price that even a 50 Hp was outrageous (he didnt have any in stock either same with Kubota) My MF dealer had some in stock but I had previously looked at a U 5030 in Baytown Texas and then when I saw the MF, they looked so cheap built and nothing like the advertized "ergonomic" refit that they so proudly advertized. I knew what my brother in law paid for his 2030 NH last year so I didnt need to go look for a new dealer (his dealer has went out of business). When the first LS dealer gave me a quote, I was like a poker player that had just been dealt 4 aces. It was hard to keep a straight face on that deal for sure.
Now if you read the LS news they are heavily investing in their tractor line and their market plan is to be one of the top 5 brand names in USA before 2012. If you are even remotely looking to buy a tractor, get on the LS brand now. When the reach the name brand recogition that they want, I am sure the prices will go up just like Mahindra and Kioti have done. The Baytown dealer gave up his franchise for Kioti due to their heavy handed tactics on orders. My Arkansas dealer told me the same story and also quit selling Kioti. Both of these guys have been selling tractors for over 40 years and said that LS is the best built tractor they have seen in a long time with more standard features than any other brand. As for power, that Iveco engine has plenty of it. I rarely run mine more than 1500 RPM doing FEL work and it will spin all 4 tires without a groan. I used mine to dig a small pond and clear some underbrush. I can take out a 6" diameter pine tree at ground level with hardly even a bump and none of the tires are loaded at this point and I may never put water in them with the weight of the tractor and the work I need to do, I has power and traction to hand it as it is now. Fuel consumption is absolutely amazing. I worked with it for a week moving dirt around, grading, and then 20 full hours digging that pond and only burned 2 tanks of fuel. I put over 40 hours on it on the tach (it has some intermittent problem of work / not work which is the only issue I have found with it so far) and I still have more than 3/4 tank on the 3rd tank of fuel. I am more than satisfied at this point with the P 7010C. One of you guys said something about liking the 7010Cbut couldnt afford the cab. They make the none cab model also, but that was my main reason for getting a new tractor was for the cab. The cab does restrict the vision and does take some getting used to but I would not get a new tractor without a cab. Last Oct it was well over 100F here and it was nice to sit in the AC and listen to the stereo while I worked and then climb down out of there at the end of 10-12 hours and still be clean.

Hey Gary...I think everyone was wondering what happened to you...I have read your blogs quite often and found them helpful...this latest post was equally helpful...I think LS should put you up as one of their poster children..ha! Still haven't made my final decision on the model I want, but have basically narrowed the field to either LS or Mahindra, with a strong lean toward the LS...I think the main reason I still have Mahindra in the hunt is because they have an equally good warranty on their product, and their tractors, model for model, are heavier than any on the market, including LS. Their tractors are also a little larger and wider - for added stability than almost any. But, LS really beats everyone on features and my local dealer is only 7 miles away, which I think will is added bonus that I think will ultimately swing me to the LS. You definitely seemed pleased. I would like the cab as well, and started out looking at the 7010C - which is a REALLY nice tractor. I too suffer from blistering heat in my area and that cab would make work much more enjoyable and the older I get the less I can tolerate the heat. No doubt, for a cab model, the 7010C is much better priced than any of its competitors with still more features. But, it may still be ultimately more than I want to spend at the moment, so I'm still considering other models in the LS line principally for cost reasons. I too looked at MF, but found it looked cheap also...it seemed to be a bare bones tractor compared to the LS for more money...I was dissappointed. I originally looked at JD, but they are simply just too pricey for the green paint, and all plastic now - which I hate. Kubota actually had a price increase earlier this year and some of their models are now more expensive that JD...now you pay as much or more for orange as green, and they also do not have all the standard features as LS...you can get the same features, but you pay for them (the 2 pair of remotes comes to mind)..Right now I'm looking at the U5030F/5020F and R4020...the problem I see in the compact models is they are priced so close to the utilities that it almost doesn't make sense to buy a compact when your looking for the higher hp models - which I am....so trying to get pricing on all of these at the moment. Trying to compare prices for LS models from multiple dealers across the country but find they don't like to put prices out, which makes it difficult to determine whether the price my local dealer gives me is good or not...Though, right now, they appear to be a little lower than other dealers as best i can tell. Not sure why the dealers make it so difficult to get pricing.

One question for you guys, how much negotiating room did you have with the dealers on price? Unlike cars, where you can find out what a dealer actually pays for the car and how much his mark-up is when trying to negotiate a sale price, I don't find anything like that similar for tractors...are we just stuck with whatever they've marked it at???

I also am looking and in no particular hurry. Pricewise, have been quoted
$46k for the LS P7010c and $50k for the Kubota M7040DTSC1. Both with QA loaders and the kubota with wheel weights. A kubota dealer is in town and the LS dealer is 3-4 hours away. Am stopping in to see the LS dealer next week. Will check out the kubota (2 hours away) at some point too...
These are Canadian prices, by the way.
If we only had some snow I'm sure I would feel more motivated...

Suzy...don't know how Canadian pricing works, or if you can have tractors shipped from US to there, but I can tell you I have seen wide pricing from dealers on the LS 7010C across the country according to what the few who list prices have on their websites...But, if you can ship, you may shop some more in the US. Two different LS dealers in my area have quoted me $34,900 on the 2010 LS 7010C - which is a great deal and significantly lower than what your getting, but the Canadian prices may simply be more....but even here, the price difference between LS and other brand's comparable models seems to range from 4K-10K depending on model..with LS still offering more features for the price.

I got my P7010C for $35,500. This was the same quote that I got from 2 different dealers, one in Texas and the other about 120 miles North. I know I could have gotten a little better deal if I had the time to dicker with them, but I had limited time before heading back to Nigeria to work so I accepted the 35,500 but then got him to sell me a 8 foot landscape rake at cost so I came out OK. Oh and he didnt have a 7010C in stock so he had to go to the same guy 120 miles away and haul it back for me. I got my tractor the following day.
MY dealer tried to sell me a 7030C for $40K but came down to $37,500 which would have been a really good deal if I had needed the extra HP.
He came off 2500 really quick on the 7030 but he wanted to move it bad. That high HP model evidently doesnt move that well and he had gotten it from another dealer who couldnt move it. The 30-50 HP models dont stay on the lot very long around here.

Not much of a tractor person, but the Canadian ones might have one extra remote and also would (hopefully) come with some sort of winterizing package involving a block heater at least and who knows what else-I will inquire when I meet the dealer next week why the difference in price.

Vehicles in general cost more up here, so maybe it's a part of the cost of doing business in Canada. Should be cheaper transport to here as BC is closer to Korea than you guys!

/ New and Looking Hard at LS #32
I havent checked the exchange rate lately, but I am sure that has something to do with it and likely as you said it should have a block heater installed and maybe even a battery blanket heater but those 2 items should not add more than $500 to the price. Import duties may also be higher in Canada.

/ New and Looking Hard at LS #33
I just checked the exchange rate and it is 99.4 cent Canadian to $1 USD so that is not the issue. Suzy, I think you need to ask the dealer to explain his pricing or check another dealer.

/ New and Looking Hard at LS #34
Suzy, maybe you should PM Greggsm33 and see what he paid for his. And I am sure the Canadian ones are built the same with the same features. I think I had put in one of my posts that my tractor had only 2 remotes, but that is incorrect, it also has 3 and looking at the layout, that is the maximum that can be installed in the console. I think the dealer just priced them higher, but Gregg should be able to confirm his pricing.

/ New and Looking Hard at LS #35
The dollar is moving to par so we in Canada are seeing a lot better pricing. There is always duties and taxes for us to deal with here that make things cost more. The dealer I am talking to seems to spec his units for Canadian weather with a block heater and I forget what else but he seems to be a no nonsense guy that knows what you need to have for Canadian winters. I am looking for a i3040 so can't speak to the 7030 pricing but you may see the price come down a bit with the dollar rising. Keep in mind the dealer probably ordered these units a while back and is underwater right now on the exchange rate. There seems to be no incentive pricing like new trucks have right now the price is the price especially with a limited network so far in Canada. Like buying something from Apple computers. It is what it is.

HELLO 4DFARM I ALSO HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT TRACTORS ,ACTUAL ABOUT 2 YEARS (KIDS IN COLLAGE) AND AFTER LOOKING AT JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING OUT THERE I ALSO HAVE DECIDED ON A LS MACHINE FOR ALL THE REASONS YOU MENTIONED. WARRANTY, FEATURES, SERVICE, PRICE, AND PARTS. LS HAS BUILT A PARTS DISTRIBUTION CENTER IN ONE OF THE CAROLINIAS MY DEALER TOLD ME THAT MOST PARTS IF NOT IN STOCK WOULD TAKE A COUPLE DAYS TO REACH HIS DEALERSHIP IAM LOOKING AT A 4020 WITH FEL TILLER FORKS AND A BOX BLADE TO BE PURCHASED IN MAY. HOPE THIS HAS HELPED. AT LEAST SOME MORAL SUPORT

Hey Avatar....glad to meet another slow decision maker like myself...ha! I too have a daughter who started college this year...and another right behind that about the time she graduates...sounds like you and I have a lot in common...my dilemma right now is primarily the exact model to get...the 4020 is definitely in the hunt for me in the LS line also...I saw an add at RCO Tractor in Texas for an R4020, with mower, FEL, and blade for $21,937...which is a pretty awsome price out the gate.....Most of my price/feature comparison to date was on the utility models (LS U5020/5030 and P7010C to JD, MF, Kubota, Kioti, Tym, Deutz Fahr)...so, I'm trying to get some compact comparisons to the 4020 at the moment which should enable me to make a final decision on which model (compact vs. utility). When you decide to switch the hp/size of a tractor, after having done the research, you almost start completely over again. Have you gotten some prices on the 4020 in your area, if so, what are they telling you? I got a price on the 4010 (just because my dealer didn't have a 4020) for $18,500 with FEL. Is the 4010 on the same platform/chasis as the 4020 with just a little bigger motor, or are they are different chasis? I did get a price on a Kubota 4400 (45hp) with FEL from the Kubota Build my Tractor site, and it gave me a price of almost 30K..and that had no other equipment. Now, I'm not sure if that price really reflects what a dealer would sell the tractor for....that's something I'm checking on at the moment.

By the way, with regard to Gary and Suzy's comments on remotes, I'm pretty certain that the R and U models have two standard sets of remotes, and the P models have three......Interestingly, I'm currently borrowing my business partner's Kubota 3240 with FEL and 4WD to do some work around my place, and i was looking at it, it has no remotes whatsoever. On kubota, the remotes are extra, to the tune of about $1500 per pair is what I was quoted on the M5040, while they are standard on LS. An interesting side note, I also discovered that LS doesn't make 2WD models...guess they figure that's a waste of time and they can offer 4WD models at a price that is competitive with 2WD models. For instance, Mahindra offers some really good deals, usually in packages, in my area, but they are always 2WD...the 4WD are substantially more...Just thought that was an interesting fact.

suzy,

Canadian price for 7010C in New Brunswick anyway was $42,999, but I paid $39,999, Dec.2009, but I have seen them advertised last week here for $39,999.

A block heater was included in this price. Tractor works awesome and I have a 84" blower and it will fire wet snow half way to the moon.LOL (we just got dumped with 40cm's 3 days ago).

Hope this helps.

HEY 4DFARM...GLAD TO HERE BACK FROM YA. I JUST GOT MY SON THROUGH 4YR OF COLLAGE AND WILL HAVE MY DAUGHTER STARTING IN TWO YEARS (ITS MY GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO STRIKE ON A NEW TRACTOR).LIKE YOURSELF I'VE BEEN RESEARCHING TRACTORS FOR A COUPLE YEARS MOSTLY THE THE BIG 3, KUBOTA, JD, AND NH AND YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING CHANGING WHEN YOU JUMP PLATFORMS AND HP...I ALSO HAVE LOOKED AT BOTH THE COMPACT AND UTILITY LS TRACTORS AND FOR ME THE COMPACT 4020 OR 4010 IS A GOOD FIT BOTH IN SIZE AND PRICE . BOTH THE 4020 AND 4010 ARE THE SAME PLATFORM BEING THE LARGEST OF THE COMPACT SIZE TRACTORS... I WAS AFRAID THAT THE LARGER UTILITY SIZE WOULD BE TO DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AROUND OUR 200 A. WOODS...THE PRICE I WAS QUOTED LAST FALL FOR A 4020 HYDRO WITH FEL WAS AROUND 22,000 MY DEALER DID CALL ME ON DECEMBER 1 TO TELL ME THAT THEIR WAS GOING TO BE A 7% INCREASE AFTER THE 1ST OF THE YEAR, WHICH IS STILL A LOT CHEAPER THEN THE 4400 KUBOTA WITH NO REMOTES (I ALSO PRICED THE 4400 OUT...WOW) ... THERE IS WEB SIGHT FOR LS AT LS Tractor USA THEY HAVE ALL THE SPEC ON ALL THERE TRACTORS...I'AM SOLD ON THE LS LINE AND HAVE A GREAT DEALER THAT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR 35 YEARS WHICH I FEEL IS VERY IMPORTANT AND HOPE TO BE PULLING THE TRIGGER IN MAY...HOPING THE SAME FOR YOU.....

Well, not much knowledgeable on the LS, but as I recall they make at least one model for: NH, Kioti, McCormick, and Montana (the green models).

If you can figure out the details (drive train, loaders, and hydraulics) you can probably do a good job of comparing apples to oranges. Likely at least one of the other brands has a similar model (maybe even find a good deal on one of the alternate brands).

I use the analogy when comparing compacts to utility tractors: 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton pick ups. It's harder to break a 3/4 ton, but you don't get as nice a ride or maybe quite the maneuverability of the 1/2 ton.

What ever you get, you will like it, regardless of what you decide you must have the next time. Work a deal for the remotes -- even if you think they are not necessary (top and tilt, grapple, hydraulic post hole digger, etc, all sound pretty nice after you get to thinking about it). Then consider swinging blade (offset, etc). A cab is especially nice to have a top and tilt on (you can't reach back and make fine adjusts from the seat).
