My fuel gauge is defiantly bad. It works but the resistance required to move it to emptying is about 10 times what it should be sender is brand new. I will probably pull it this spring when I have time. Had it out and took it apart to see if there was something obvious but there wasn't.

My tractor also came with a 420 loader, 6' box blade with teeth, 6' blade and 16' tandem axle trailer. Tractor was said to have about 1600 hours on it from mowing/bush hogging. But upon possession I notice some of my dash does not work either. Hours is at 400, fuel gauge not working, and turn signals not working.

Also, being in IN where temps can fluctuate from 50* F - -10*F within a couple of days, what oil should I be running? I would like to run something that is readily available. Thanks for all the help.

I've broken both side on my 4410. The first time I dutifully bought new ones from JD. I felt a bit ripped off as I felt they should have been warranty. Especially after I looked through the parts manual and noticed a heavy duty version. The second and third times I have just welded then up myself. All times it's happened with my post hole auger attached so now I'm more careful when using that implement. If it ever happens again I will build new ones from scratch and build them so that they don't break!

Owner's manual says 10W30 can be used down to -4*F and 5W30 down to -22*F. I prefer Quaker State.

Just going through my manual again and found service records. The tractor had something fall on the instrument cluster and dealer replaced gauges. Yet they do not work and the hour meet is different than actual hours??

John Deere are proud of all their prices. They wanted 16000 to rebuild my engine.if you don't have one on that engine get a block heater it helps a lot with starting also do not use any starting fluid on it it will not like it.

I run deere 5w30 in a 5 gallon pail. If you get it when it's on sale it isn't really much more than car oil. Mine operates in -30f to 90f.

x2. Ask me how I/we know.

As long as the thermistor and grid heater are working and you've got winter fuel, it should start without a block heater down to -10f (mine does) just fine. If it won't, check the thermistor and momentary short it's legs.
