New 424

They do make great tractors....and many other items. been around 100+ years.

They just broke into the newer CUT market here a few years ago.....so dealer network is slowly expanding. I have heard they have fairly strict requirements in order to become a dealer.

And they are limited on models currently available....

I think given their quality, warranty, and reputation they will move up the ranks in marketshare. But it may be a s-l-o-w process.....

I'm not sure about the future of Yanmar tractors in Australia. Up to a couple years ago Yanmar tractors were sold by a number of different tractor retailers. Now only one company sells Yanmar tractors in Australia and they have only 3 retail outlets. It seems the company's main business is selling a particular Chinese tractor brand, and they have received a few critical online reviews regarding poor customer service regarding these tractors (they're not lonely in that regard - looking online it seems poor customer service is a fairly common complaint in the small/hobby farm industry). It would be sad if Yanmar tractor sales ceased in the country because potential buyers were put off by the online reviews of the company.

In the meantime I do my own routine services using filters I purchase from the company - I have no criticisms, the parts arrive quickly and in good condition.

I think its just because Yanmar is still " New" to the market, If they never stopped making tractors for themselves years ago i think the forum would be alot more popular. Just my :2cents:

A yanmar 424 is a considetably larger unit than a jd 1025. 424 is a VERY nice unit . . I would think a higher bucket of bucks than the jd 1025.

Actually yanmar had been a great engine and tracktor bulder for nearly 3 decades. But they deliberately did it behind closed doors. For 2 decades with John deere and then for almost 7 years with cub cadet.

They've built for decades but only publicly showed it since 2011. So comments and discussions on yanmar are often buried in jd or cub cadet locations.

Yanmars weaknesses has never been about creative and quality equipment and design durability. It has been about a considerable lack of marketing skill and add on attachment options.

I got my new 424 earlier this year and I have put over 90 hours on it. I've worked it pretty hard and it's performed beautifully. Once I get her cleaned up, she'll look like new again. I know tractors are SUPPOSED to be tough, but still, I am very pleasantly surprised at how well it has stood up to the abuse.

A 424 is not only good looking but a very good investment value for its size and abilities. I wish the 221 had been designed more like the 324 and 424 in features . . Like the past sc2400 was. And based on what I've seen, it seems like the price difference between the 324 and 424 makes thev424 a very good price with a feature rich combination.
