New 3320

I'de like to hear from someone who has one of the non JD hoes. I realize they aren't built as well, but like Arrabil I can't justify buying one just to have around with little use, and would like to hear from others that have an off brand. I purchased a post hole drill from a local tractor shop at a fraction and for my personal use it works great. I realize it's limitations as with anything else. As far as foreign, quite a bit of my 3320 has china written on it right from J.D. and everyone knows that when you purchase J.D. it's going to cost more for the name.

Sure, some of the JD stuff is from China, but they also stand behind it with a worldwide parts/dealer network-do you think Liberty can match that?

The main problem here is the 3PH mounting...If you have the ability then get the Liberty and make a subframe for it. Read this thread for great info on that: how to build your own custom backhoe subframe - TractorByNet.com

You mean someone else. It only took me not having it when I needed one time before I went out and bought one. And I'm using the link KennyD posted to make a subframe for it which should be done next week

For me it's not how much use it gets in a year, I don't evaluate my tractor that way, it's those times when nothing else will do and something has to get done. If I look back at the times over several years I used it, and the messes it has gotten me out of, it justifies itself.

I don't know about a Chinese hoe. I think in the long run it might cost more especially when you consider failures, parts quality, waiting for parts and if you can get them in five or ten years, etc. That with the fact that it's a 3PH hoe sinks it in my book.

Call JD for a part on a ten year old 8B hoe and it will be at your door in a day or two. What's that worth? A lot to me.

I only have 5 acres and don't depend on my tractor for my for my business, food etc. It's just nice to have for a lot of chores. For me it's also a time issue. I work two jobs and just don't get enough time to really use the tractor as much as I'd like. If I were retired and had a lot more free time I'd be able to use the BH more frequently and could justify the cost. I already have a $400 a month payment, so adding in another $7k+ was not in the cards. but I can dream! :D

We've hashed the China thing out quite extensively on TBN. Let me repeat some things seeing as I was in business dealing with products from around the world.
Made in China, or anywhere else for that matter, doesn't mean a product is shoddy. It's the specs the manufacturer demands of the supplier. Walmart might say," give us the cheapest solution", JD might say, "uses these tolerances even if it cost more to manufacture."
The other thing is parts and fit. Deere designs it to fit their tractor with specs to match. You need a replacement part you get it, you're not buying an orphan.

With that said there are good after market hoes. Do some searches for the Woods, I think it's popular with some of the people here. You might want to start a thread asking about after market hoes.

My two cents,
Rob
