Hi everyone!
I decided that after reading hundres of posts on this site as I searched for my first tractor, I should become a member. I've found so much useful information through this site, so hopefully as I become more familiar with mine, I'll be able to contribute something to the community. I'm expecting my tractor to show up tomorrow and can't wait to dig some holes with the backhoe. I'll post some pictures once it arrives, and I'm sure I'll be posting questions as I discover things confuse me.

Re: Greetings from NJ

The tractor arrived last week, and I've been so busy that I haven't even had much time to break it in. (Had to clean out a garage bay to have somewhere to keep it). Unfortunately, I had to take it's roof off since the only way to fit it in the garage is to fold the ROPS and slightly lower the backhoe.

Having used 50-hp machines in the past, I was impressed with the backhoe on the 3120. I had some posts to pull from the back yard that were set 2' deep in concrete and they slid right out of the ground. If I ever wind up with more property, I'm sure I'll find a need for a bigger tractor, but this seems like a really solid machine that should handle just about anything I ask it to do.

Re: Greetings from NJ

Welcome to TBN, and congrats on your purchase! I'm going to go ahead and move this post to the JD owning/operating forum since you posted a photo of your new 3120.

Re: Greetings from NJ

Welcome aboard! The site is a wealth of information.

That is a nice looking tractor. I would have liked to had a JD about that size, but it was way out of my budget. I was able to pick up a Bobcat 30 HP tractor last year when they had great sales. I have a FEL but no back hoe.

Enjoy that new tractor and this site!

I wouldn't have thought that I would have been able to afford a JD either, but this was a used one. It was repossessed, went back to John Deere, purchaced by the dealer at auction, then re-sold by the dealer. Aside from some concrete residue in the bucket, some scratches on the paint, and a lack of manuals, it's in great shape. I couldn't pass up the deal since it's just some cosmetic stuff that keeps it from looking "new".
