I have this swelling problem in the lower leg and have had for 35 yrs due to several gun shot wounds that tore up and out tendons, bones other structures within not to mention other problems.I suggest to you to go get fitted for a set of (jobst) brand vascular stocking. They are heavy and not like what women wear,. They are custom fitted to your leg and create equal pressure around that leg,, The jobst( most popular brand name in the business), you put on before getting out of bed. It alone, will give you a couple of hours more than you will get right now.
Go to Walmart or equivalent, get a foam pack, which is 3ft long and 1 1/2 ft across and looks like a giant egg carton. Take and old sheet or something to make a cover for this after it is folded 3 times,, Learn to sleep with this starting at knee to foot. It took me a month to get use to it.. This, gives me a couple of hours per day along side the jobst stocking, So,,, I get 4 hours a day that I didn't have with these two items,, I also,, (just started back again) going swimming every single morning, Of anything,, swimming is the best known to repair bad legs., I stand in water at my throat level, and jog two thousand steps which takes exactly 28 minutes. Then I do 40 laps. I will slowly work my way up to 50 laps. Our old home had an inground pool, This home the last 6-7 yrs does not,, I quit swimming and really paid the price, both, in excess weight gain and absolutely no exercise, the legs were so bad that I was very close to being permanently in a wheel chair,, When one has water retention, such as you do now,, don't think that this will go away in a month or two and be gone forever, an you're done with it,, You will have this the rest of your life, just by being opened and operated on. Of course check with your doctor first for verification of what I just typed here and see what they tell you.
