New 1120 owner

I have recently bought a JD 1120 and have a lot questions, but I will start with a few: how much oil does it take, do you check the hydrolic oil with the tractor running or not, with dip stick screwed in or not, and what is the left shift patterne for the tranny, there are 4 possitions but only three seem to work

I have a JD 2030, not a 1120, but it may be the same. My engine holds 6 qts of oil. To check hydraulic oil, engine running, 3pt hitch down, dipstick unscrewed and just setting back on. Left shifter, upper left park (will only go in when right shifter is in 1st/5th gear) lower left high range forward, upper right low range forward, lower right reverse.
