New 07 Chevy 2500HD

Here is the new truck I came home with today. It is a 07 Chevy 2500HD.
It has that duramax and allison in it. Boy does it drive nice!

I have not towed at all with it yet. I am wondering if there is a break-in period. Years ago I remember you were not suposed to tow until you drove 1,000 miles. I drove it away from the dealers with 13 miles on it and it now has about 75. It is rated to tow 7500lbs without a weght distribution hitch and 13,000lbs with. My tractor is about 5,000lbs and the trailer is about 1500lbs, so I am sure it will handle it easily. I will let everyone know how it goes when I tow with it....it might be awhile though.

Nice truck. You should drive it 500 miles to break in the G-80 locking rear.

Check all the fluids asap, GM is know for beingshy on fluids. My 04 - 2500, and ny 05 3500 Dually both were down a qaurt or two in the front end and rear end - tranny and engine were also low.
Yes don't tow for the first 1k , I think the manual says.
I changed all the fluids under 5k.

I have had two Dura / Allis setups. Other than the built-in failure of the fuel injection system (01 - 03) I have liked the machine. I have worked it to its capacity and then some but I like it. The tranny is what actually compliments the Duramax. Did you get a 5 or 6 speed (automatic)?

Isn't the manual up/down electronic shift feature on the Allison 6 speed great???

That is a very nice truck. Although I am a Ford man, Chevy makes a nice truck also and I am always happy for anyone getting a new truck as nice as yours. Enjoy it, and let us know how it does for you.

The new diesels are very nice. Don't know if I would be around long enough to make the last payment. How did you find a cab and one half? All I have seen so far are the full 4 door models. Running empty should make 20 mpg ?
