Never use an Abrasive Cut-Off Wheel Again?

The pros use the diamond blades in the 4 1/2 inch angle grinders to cut vinyl siding. Amazing to watch a guy that has experience and knows what he's doing.

Certainly true but a DIYer can do a pretty good job with a cordless circular saw and a fine tooth blade mounted backwards...Worked fantastic for me anyway.

I would welcome this. However, it is easy to damage a cutting wheel, either by dropping, accidentally stepping on it, etc, in a shop setting. So, it would depend on the cost per wheel.

I don't buy the "cheap" import cut off wheels. They break too easily, so they can be dangerous. And, since, they don't last nearly as long as a premium wheel, the savings is not that great anyway.

No good can come from breathing anything like that into your lungs. The abrasive in cut off wheels, could very well be the next asbestos.

I strongly suggest wearing at least a dust mask, in addition to your gloves, and face protection.

Finally got a chance to try it and my first impressions are good. It cut faster than the abrasive disc and didn't 'catch' and try to break your wrist, which was my concern when looking at it. Now it has to stand the test of time.

Did you get a 4 1/2" and using it on an Angle Grinder??

Me too. I'll use 30 4 1/2" abrasive wheels a year.

I'd be most interested in these wheels on a Chopsaw. I'll use 6 abrasive chopsaw wheels a year.

I notice a lot of people saying this would be safer than the abrasive wheels that break up but don't forget diamond wheels can break and they hurt a whole lot worse when you get a big chunk of metal instead of small pieces of abrasive blade

Thought I'd post a few pics for your reference. The pic where I cut through the weld took about 30 seconds and I was leaning on it really hard. Again I'm surprised at how smooth it cut with no catching. One thing I'd like to see different is a 'dished' wheel because sometimes you want to reach in a spot and the retainer nut ends up hitting. Also to note, instead of producing grit it produces small chunks of metal which could end up being a sliver factory. You've been warned! Keep in mind this wheel is brand new and only time will tell how it falls off.
