neutral power reverser problem

have a 2005 4520 jd .having problems with the power reverser lever . has to be In neutral to start but have to jiggle lever to make connection to start. was wondering is there a switch or connection from the ignition switch to the power reverser lever , one person told me there was an adjustment to a connector or switch and a mechanic said the only safety switch was located u nder the seat connected to the lever. another jd owner with a 4320 said he had the very same problem. any thoughts from you guys or mechanics where to look ? thanks

I disagree with the mechanic...
There is an operator's presence switch (dead man switch) under the seat...but there is also a neutral safety switch that prevents the tractor from starting in gear (which includes the reverser lever). Even my 14 year old Deere 4400 with sync-reverser has these switches.
However, I don't think it's a switch. I think you'll find linkage might be a bit loosened up over the years.

thank you for your input, that makes a lot of sense. I will look at the linkage.

I will guess that there's a switch on this power reverser control housing. I agree the shift linkage needs looking at for slack.
