I'm thinking it's a good thing everybody don't.
You don't see anything wrong with burning garbage ?, Really ?
It's a funny thing about what happens to garbage. When I lived in California, we had pickup once a week. The city also gave us three colored containers for paper, cans and bottles. The guy loaded them into different compartments in their truck and went on to the next house to do the same thing.
Here's the funny part. I was a Union Steward with the Teamsters and knew allot of the gargbage guys. Same Local. I asked what they did with those different materials. They laughed at me and told that they dump it all in the same place. It's just a stunt to make people feel good, but it's way too expensive and time consuming to go through the stuff they find in those bins to do anything with them. So they just dump them all at the landfill.
Another funny thing about garbage was on National Geographic. There is a HUGE landfill in Southern California. It's been going on for decades. Their is a class from one of the Universities, maybe UCLA, that drills down into the landfill to see what it can find. They are studying what happens in the landfills. One of their big discoveries is that items that would normaly break down will last for decades way down deep. For an example, they pulled up newspapers with articles about Nixon when he was President. They could still read the print!!! Newspaper burried deep enough in the ground will remain in perfect condition for decades. They don't even have a clue how long it will last since it was assumed that it breaks down over time. Now we know it doesn't.
As for me and what I do, yes, I burn. What doesn't burn goes into my dumpster and then when that gets full, I haul it off to the landfill. I know exactly what happens to my garbage and I'm comfortable with what I'm doing. I bet most of those who rely on the city or county or whoever to haul off ther garbage doesn't have a clue what happens to it. I also doubt that most people realize that most reclycling is a big scam to make some people feel good and add more fees to the service without actually changing anything.
Here's a few pictures of my burn piles. I like to add a few trees to the pile to get it good and hot. When it gets hot enough, it will melt bottles and some metals.
