we signed up to get advise concerning what HP tractor is needed to run smaller balers, Case 8420 (hesston 530) Shopping for tractor now, baler in the future. We hobby farm, put up 10 acres hay, Michigan

I run the Case 8430 with 43 hp ... good baler and easy to maintain.

It appears that is a 4X4 baler. If you have access to a manual, you may want to start there. Not knowing the land you will be on and quality of hay. I would suggest nothing smaller then 45HP at the PTO. Do not know this baler, so you will need to validate this, but depending on the baler you may need 2 sets of hydraulics one if it has an electric tie. I am guessing you will need a FEL, so you really need 4WD. Plus the 4WD will help if you need a little extra power. What are you going to use to cut the hay? That should factor into your decision. While I am sure a large CUT will do the job, I still like the weight of a utility tractor when it comes to moving bales round. There have been a few other posts on this baler would suggest you look at those, if you have not done so already.

welcome my tractor is a MX5100 HST 4x4,an its 52hp 46 pto.an i know it would pull either a 4x4 or 4x5 baler.
