Hello Everybody, this will not stop the frustration but it may help for the future. Here are the ACE Hardware #'s for the following Dewalt and Makita bulbs;
Dewalt
9.6v 2115285
12v 2118412
14.4v 2118420
18v 2118453

Makita
9.6 2118537
12v & 14.4v 2118552

This is only a small fraction of what is available on the weekly delivery truck from their distribution centers. These are NEW items that many dealers may not know are available.
Hope this helps!

Frank,

I'm happy to hear you got some good response from them. I think most businesses really want to do things well but, with every step between the owner and the customer, there is a drop off of quality of customer service in most if not all instances.

Stanley Marcus' book 'Quest for the Best' is a great read on the subject. Tom Peters' offering, 'In Pursuit of Excellence' is also very good, as are all of his works. They ought to be required reading for anyone in business at any level.

They also help you understand what businesses face in trying to offer the best products and services while also trying to grow and expand. It's an interesting dichotomy, to say the least. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

HARDWARE: thanks for the info, much appreciated by all. AS AN update to this saga , the manager from one of the stores called me today and is ordering bulbs, and will call me when they come in. and i can either pick one up or they will mail it to me, my prefernce, and of course there will be NO CHARGE for my inconvenience. my whole object of starting this chain of reaction was not a free bulb. just wanted to get some common , everyday service.SHAME ON SEARS FOR MAKING IT SO TOUGH TO GET A BULB, BUT ALSO KUDOS TO SEARS FOR MAKING IT RIGHT.

How many of us have to toss out something because we can't find a replacement part. I
like fixing things, especially if they are in good shape. Recently tried to fix my wifes Regal
breadmaker. It needs a thermistor. Called everwhere. Regal no longer makes breadmakers
& parts are no longer available. I was in email contact with Regal & told them someone
had to make the thermistors for the breadmakers. Surely this company can be found. The
breadmaker is only 4 yrs. old. No luck. Still need to find a wiper O ring for my floor jack.
This jack is perfectly good except it leaks from the plunger when using it. The label on
the jack is wore off. I have a parts list, but there is NO manufacture name on it anywhere.
I can't use the jack because of a 1.00 wiper. Everything seems to be throw away now.

O.K. Guys,

Here's the opposite wrt to shipping charges. I recently placed a large order with Amazon.com. They gave me free shipping and the shipped and billed everything separately. I received 7 boxes so far. Two of them only had a single air-tool connector that cost only one dollar. It cost them more than that to ship it via UPS. Go figure.

BIG DAVE: here is another screw up: recently purchased a table and chair set for my young grandson, when putting it together, one of the metal inserts that is recessed in the wood to accept the bolt was missing, store would not take it back as it was a discontinued item, so e mail the manufacture, requesting the insert, expained in detail what i need to have. got the parcel today. an envelope about the size of texas, loaded with bolts and even a wrench, but no insert./w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif will have to fix it myself. but ticks me off
