I recently damaged the back-plate on the transmission on my X495. I have the new plate, gasket, fluid and filter. But I don't know what to torque the bolts to. My local JD shop foreman and I spent several minutes looking over his books, but he didn't have a tech manual for any of the X-series. He looked up a similar plate on the older 455, and it showed to be 20 ft-lb.

I'd rather be certain before I do this. If anyone has access to this info, I'd sure appreciate it. The part number is M810219.

Those are M8 threads. Note that you have two different lengths going through that plate.

Per my web search, an M8 thread should be torqued between 16 ft-lb and 20 ft-lb (depending upon the class of thread, which isn't called out on the Deere parts web site).

So, I suggest you use anti-seize and torque those bolts to 20 ft-lbs.

Your right Roy,
Just checked with a friend that has a x- series Technical manual CD, 20 lbs is right.
