Need to buy a tractor - concerned about emissions stuff (sacrifice hp?)

Reading the entire thread, my advice is to buy used per 4 from a reputable dealer, if, and I say if you can fine a pre 4 unit at a reasonable price. Buddy of mine sent me a link to a sale in Georgia where an M9000 Cab tractor, 2004 vintage (exactly what I have) sold for 42 grand with 3100 hours on the meter. Mine has 2000 well maintained hours and cost new was 42 grand. I'd say pre 4 units are really holding their value. I actually have 2. Looks to me like I have 2 nice investments if and when I sell them which won't be anytime soon.

Post 4 tractors are problematic and it's across all brands, not just a particular brand. It it has Tier 4 emissions controls and common rail injection, chances are pretty good it will have issues and most of those issues aren't fixable in the driveway either.
