am of an age, where if i can i try to do it mechanically. so the rake is fine in fall, if the area is small. but to save you time and effort aerate three ways your ground not just where you try to seed, put down the seed first (reason if you seed after the seedlings are falling into the deep holes of the aerator and can't make it to the top)
