They were saying on the news here that our part of Fla is 370% above normal. Somewhere else in Fla was more than 500% above normal. We are not far enough above sea level to take much more lol.... I think we need a good tropical depresion to set over here for a week or so

Not to fret, by the end of the year, most likely the yearly total will be pretty close to normal. Mother Nature has a way about her.

We are having the 2nd LOWEST rainfall in history for our county, everything is bone dry. The rains we have gotten have been VERY HARD, VERY SHORT and VERY ISOLATED so my neighbor down the road may get rain and I can watch it from my patio a 1/4 mile away, but I only get a drizzle. There have been numerous times this spring I've been on the phone with my wife complaining about the heavy rain where I am and how it is slowing traffic and she has sunshine at home. . . or visa versa. Never seen it like this before. The rain we get is so intense it knocks out the power, downs branches, and usually lasts for less than 15 minutes!

We've finally got a nice steady rain that's been lasting since last night around here. Much needed.

We need rain in North Texas, but now that it is Summer, we can forget about until September.

We were bone dry here in WNY also last week. The farmers were spraying the fields. Dust flying everywhere.

Then the T-Storms came hard and heavy. Can't even get out in the fields now or you'd sink. Was in the 90's but today it's about 70.

Strange weather indeed. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Like froggy said, we're in BAD shape around here. We're in a Moderate drought and it'll hit 100 today they are saying. For the most part, our rain is over until September now.

Farmers around us are wishing for that weather. We've been getting the same isolated storms that Bob (Skurka) mentioned but all they're doing is messing up everything for baling hay.

I have this odd little theory. In the last 20 years or so, we have had major volcanic eruptions with lots of ash. And, Chernobyl blew... Especially since Chernobyl, seems we have gotten more extremes in weather. Out here, we got heavy rain a wek ago, which isn't unheard of, but is not the norm either. We're in for rain the next couple of days too.

We finally started getting much needed rain here in Ohio. I was really starting to wonder there for a good while If I could learn to do a rain dance.

Something is certainly going on, RobertN.
Seems like when I was a kid, the seasons would come, stay 3 months, then leave. I can't remember the last time it snowed in winter and didn't melt off a couple weeks later, only to get dumped on again.

So that's where our rain went; sure wish you could send some of it back. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I can add to the yes about needing rain, in midwest though PINERIDGE is just down the road a bit from me. ;0 one day mayber he can get that grapple thingy over to my place /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif hint hint lol J/K mike.

anyhow the WEEDS & grass seems to be growing like crazy but the garden kills off anything I plant this year so far. ezcept onions & patatoes. I do see a ton of volinteer beans comming up amungst the weeds but only in the parts I need to re-till ;( /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif ate some lettus yesterday and got stomach ach from it it was so bitter. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif then had to RUN to the outhouse... lol

anyhow I shouldn't have ate it while picking but it looked too good & was so crisp....

We were having the driest May on record, then, over the last 2 days of the month we got ~~ 3". Now we're back in the dry cycle. Only about an inch this month.

Here's an interesting look at drought conditions over the US. North Texas is below its average, but west Texas is normal. Go figger.
