Got the fuel shut off solinode installed but the timer relay that drives it is shot... which is $78 to $94 in addition to the $63 we already spent on the solinode.

Spent a little time starting the process of straightening sheetmetal... lost cause. But I'll give it an honest effort...

One step forward two steps back it looks like....

Poor ol tractor lives it's whole life outside... only gets to come inside for repairs, bet it thinks of indoor parking like some of us think of going to the dentist!

Repaired the radiator today, one of the steel brackets on the side came lose, I soldered it back on, and straighted some fins. Going to replace all the hoses and alt belt. Removed, cleaned, and painted the battery tray.

Front axle was leaking at the bottom of the wheel pivot points. Further inspection brought to light bad bearings as well. Disassembled both sides and ordered the parts needed. Gears and all other bearings seemed ok... will replace all seals while its apart.

Only got about half a day on the tractor today... straightened a few dents and wrinkled panels around the dash area, and hood and side panels. Grill is gonna take some work...
Axle bearings came late in the day, will start assembly tomorrow morning. Still waiting on 2 of the 4 radiator hoses and alt belt.

Front axle is back together and full of oil... assembly went easily, was done by lunchtime.

Afternoon was spent working on cleaning rusty headlight buckets and grill repairs.

Get rid of the "voltage regulator" and all of "it's" wiring.
Install a GM alt with internal regulator, you'll be allot happier with it,
and you can loose half of that unneeded wiring.

If the alt ever goes bad, that may happen simply due to the cost of a replacement alt. They are 'spencive. Wish I could have done that when I had the harness completely cut up, less likely to be done properly now that its all back in the wire loom and neatly closed up.

Thanks for the idea.

Radiator hoses were replaced, new fan belt, new tail lights and made a wireing harness for them as well, as done as it's gonna get for now. First time in 15 years any lights have worked!

Grill was repaired, and headlight support straightened.

Made a new rad cap cover outta tread plate cause it was handy, and trim between headlights to match grill guard.

Facemask! No more grill damage!

Back out wearin his loader... Rufus L. Tractor is happy to be free again, headed out to haul wood, till gardens, and brush hog again.

Thanks... boss just wanted a few basics taken care of this time around... hope to get it in for a paint job this winter or next... next year we could justify it with the bosses wife "every 30 years a good tractor deserves a paint job"

With a new starter and functioning glow plugs it fires right up now!
