We were going to buy a waterwheel transplanter this year for our gardening operation. The used one we were looking at sold and they are not plentiful in our area. I think I can build all the frame work but I am a bit perplexed on the water wheel. Originally I was thinking a barrel as our plants can all go in at the same spacing. But having welded on barrels before it is kinda a miserable affair for me. I am better at turning the juice up. I thought about a vehicle rim to get the roundness and weld a shield around the outside but it would make for a bulky unit. What would be perfect is a round wheel cut out and a build a wheel around it, but the smooth bending is not something I am. Going to be able to achieve here in the shop.
A propane tank just popped into my head. Cut the ends off and put a lip around the cut size. I will have to measure one. It has to work out to put the punches at 6 or8 inches.
