2012 John Deere 1016, FEL, 60"MMM
For starters I think my john deere dealer sold me some off brand instead of a true John Deere i-match hitch. I was trying to hook up my box blade and I got the bottom pins in but can't get the top pin to go in. I am new to all this tractor stuff but for the life of me can't figure out how to get the top link to go in. Maybe this picture will show you my problem.

You need to lengthen the top link to get it to line up with the top then lift and adjust. Mine is green dont know why its black.

I agree - it doesnt look like a JD imatch. On my HF quick attach, the top link hook is adjustable so I can move it up or down to match my implement. I agree with jamming that the top link can be lenghtened to get under the pin to hook up if the tractor and implement is not on the same plane.

It is a John Deere brand, they just came out with an adjustable top link. All 3 pins must line up and latch all at the same time

how the heck do you get them to line up at the same time? My bottom 2 were in the slots but you see how far the top one was off.

You don't have an iMatch compatible (or quick hitch compatible) box blade.
There are pretty specific designs to mate up, and you will need to do some alterations to the top link connection on your box blade. Its and apple and an orange. Just don't go together.
You are having problems with the supplier of your rotary cutter and your box blade. They should have informed you of the short PTO shaft as well as the bb not being compatible.
Are you picking up the rotarty cutter ok with the iMatch on your tractor?

Extend your top link out and lift to see if your hitch will hook on the bolt under the pin

I saw on the john deere site there is an optional rotary cutter hookup for the i-match. I think I might need that to make hooking it up easier. The salesman told me that i-match suppose to be compatible with all attachments apparently he was just blowing smoke. I think for starters I am going to make them sell me a true JOHN DEERE i-match quick connect not a land pride quick hitch.

Here is what my john deere dealer told me "The I-match come from John Deere but they do have 2 different ones. The black one like what you got and then a higher priced one that is the same only green. The box blade will work, all you have to do is extend out the top link before you back up to it so the hook is farther back."
I have tried that but still can't get it to hook up, enclosing some pics maybe you can tell me what I am doing wrong. I can't even get the bottom ones to hook up. Looks like to me if I suppose to hook up to the bottom bolt of the box scrapper it is too big to go in the hole. I hate calling my JD dealer all the time he prolly thinks I am an idiot. 1st time tractor owner I don't know about this stuff.

The black and green quick hitches are NOT the same. Unfortunately the green ones are not available at the current time - they were redesigned with and adjustable upper section and have not been released yet. The black one is cat 1 only and does NOT fit everything. I have several customers waiting for the updated green version to be available.

I just called my salesman telling him I am still having trouble hooking up the box blade and my rotary cutter. He said he will personally come over to my house and show me how to hook everything up this afternoon. I really feel bad they have been to my house 2 times already one time it was cause I didn't know about the knob to adjust the fall of the deck (no one told me) and the 2nd time was a problem with the tractor didn't get the right adjustment at the factory. I told my salesman when I bought my 1026 that the only thing I ever owned before was a john deere Lx277 riding mower and didn't know a thing about tractors. I bet he believes me now. Everyone told me how easy the 1026 was to use I am having my doubts if that is the case right now.

Ditto on the black and green hitches not being the same. The black hitch does not have a large enough center hook to work with most att and have not seen very many applications where it works well. The I-match green version will work with everything that follows true catI dimensions with the exception of certain items like a rotary cutter that does not have a floating hitch. You can hook up but can damage the lift arms when operatin (non floating units can be made to work if you replace lift straps with chains). You can make your hith work by enlarging the hook or better yet wait for the I_match version. Typically when using a hitch you are using the lower pin on the mast and today it is almost always closer to catII in diameter than catI. That is what it appears you are having problems with.

After the saleman fails to make it work, tell him you want a refund toward the right one that will work! :D

Sales should have gone over the operation with you when delivered. I would not feel bad about calling the dealer for help that's their job.

The John Deere salesman just came to my house, he had to take the bushing out of the lower pin and he made some other adjustments and NOW all I have to do is back up to it and raise it up and it works. He also showed me how to hook up the driveline for the rotary cutter. I think now maybe I got it figured out better knock on wood.

I am about pissed! Mowed 30 minutes with my brush hog and the bolt holding the drive shaft onto the shaft of the brush hog snapped off! I am about ready to load my 1026 and all my implements up and take them back to the dealer and tell him where to shove them all and get my $18K back!

Snapped off? Or slipped out as it did the first time?

You are trying to work with a dealer salesman who is not very bright.
Don't feel bad about having him come back to your place. He is trying to hook non-compatible attachments to each other.

Don't blame you for being upset. And if you, I'd call him and cancel the deal (or get him to make it right).

And a hint, you are better off buying green, not that color as shown. ;)

Sounds like you just broke a shear bolt. It is there even on slip clutch protected units and can break. It will certainly break if it is a shear bolt protected machine since it is there to protect your gear case. Typically a pretty easy fix other then getting your hands inside the plastic bell.
