Need HELP my DK55 won't start.

I have changed: Battery, Key switch, Starter, Safety relay. I can drag start it, and it will run great, I have all the lights when I turn the key on, the glow plugs time out, but when I turn the key to start....NOTHING.

Hello, since you replaced your battery and switch and solonoid, id make sure your starter and solinoids have a good ground.. .It sounds like your grounds are loose or dirty. Look up on google a tractor stater diagram and you will get the basic idea that you have several grounds to check and you can do so with a voltmeter, have someone turn the key can check the starter , making sure you have a ground at the starter.

Haven't replaced that yet, did pull the safety switch starter relay and it checked good.

cvick: Stop swapping parts. Get a volt meter and a schematic and locate the actual problem. This seems to be a fixed (not intermittent) problem so it should be easy to locate. If yours is an older DK the start circuit is not complex (the newer ones with the electronic instrument panel ate not as simple).

Whoa! Welcome to TBN, and slow down a bit on the replacing parts 'till it works routine. Are we looking at an HST or manual, what year manufactured, (serial # gives us that info), how many hours on clock? Are you original owner?
What symptoms led to replacing the items you mentioned and in what order did you replace them?
Have you verified solid, no corrosion grounds at negative battery cable where it connects to the frame? Same question at both posts of the battery?

If your instrument panel looks like the one on page 8-3 this schematic probably describes your tractor too. If so, look at the start system on page 8-9. I would start at the starter (check for 10-12 v when the key is in crank) and work back to the key switch to determine where you lose voltage. There is a brute-force test for the starter and battery where you short from the connection for the big 12v wire (from the battery) on the solenoid to the small wire connection on the solenoid; this should crank the starter and probably make some sparks. Th test bypasses everything except the battery, starter, and the battery wires. You didn't mention the start relay and that is a possible cause.

Thanks, its a manual, 2008 year DK55 with 401 hours. I'm the second owner, I've had it for 8 months and have put 100 hours on it. The first issue started about 2 months ago, when you would start the tractor and let go of the key, it would die. You could wiggle the key after start and get it to stay running, then one day when I went to start, after the glow plug light went out, nothing. That is when I replaced the key switch, had issue with that so replaced, its a simple unplug, plug so tried again...nothing. My volt meter showed the battery was good and that it was getting voltage to the starter, there was some corrosion on the battery cables so I decided to replace the terminals and the battery.... no luck on starting. Talked to the nearest dealer and he said it may be the starter or a safety relay. Pulled the safety relay, took apart, the coil was good and it would pull in when 12 volts were applied. The starter seem to check good, but I decided to replace, which I did, but still no go. That's when I sent it to the dealer for repair, I will post on here what was found.
