Reading your post says you already took delivery of the new one and didn’t trade anything you had in at the time so you don’t seem to be concerned with the money side of the equation
So like you said, keep it to make your life easier with the attachments it works well with and put it to work doing the thing you like to do and let your eirs worry about what to do with them after you have finished with everything else
Keep it up, the world needs more like you.

I helped my 85 yr old friend find and buy a 30 hp JD (3035?) It is his first hydrostatic 4 wheel drive tractor and he loves it. His 4 old 2wd shift tractors sit now. He couldn't be happier and staying active grading, mowing, trimming trees with a chipper attachment etc. 85 is the new 70 ?

From a buyers perspective, if i can go down to the dealer and pay $25k, im not going to pay $22.5k for your used machine. New equipment loans have much better terms than used equipment loans too. So, i would expect to take atleast a 20% hair cut.


With that, if yours has a lot of options, buyers are likely comparing your asking, vs a base model; so, I dont think your "linked pedel" or other upgrades will count much for you. Rear remotes, maybe a bit, but at best, 20% off base, and about 50% off impliments/upgrades/options.

With all that bad news, waiting to sell a few years isnt going to help the price, and it seems like a lot of overlap with the new machine. So, with that, I would likely list it, and see what offers come in. I would expect the best offers to be in feb/march/april; spring and tax refunds

You can get a ballpark figure by asking ChatGPT what it is worth in your zip code. Be very descriptive in your question to include year/make/model/condition/after market add ons, etc.

He has put less than 50 hours in 2 years on the BX, and now has a replacement machine. I just dont see keeping it as a spare. Get what you can get, and move on.

Is the BX paid off? If so, I assume you have no holding cost (insurance), but you still have opportunity cost, of that $16k sitting there, that could be either paying other stuff, or invested, or something more useful then sitting

I bought my BX strictly as a lawn mower figuring I would never have a use for it for anything else since the L4060 was my go to for everything I need a tractor for. Turns out the BX is pretty handy for a lot of things, especially if I need to trailer it over a long distance. I have used it to power an auger when the L was too big to get into a spot where I needed to dig a hole for a footer. Taken it from VA to Charleston SC to do a fence at a second home, etc.

So if you can afford it I'd keep both.
