I have a brand new MX6000 and while poking around the belly, I found this bolt that has a free floating pin in the middle. It's not painted grey, so I doubt it was installed by the factory. It's located on the centerline, just forward of the transmission. Forward of this bolt, the front drive shaft emerges from the casting and goes forward. My machine is equipped with the factory third function valve and three remotes, FWIW.

When hydraulic fluid leaks out from the floating pin you will know you have a problem.
Indeed. I pushed on the pin and no fluid comes out. It does not look like a factory installed part to me. I'm trying find if any other owners have something or have seen something similar on their machines.

That's a drain for the bellhousing. The pin flopping around prevents the hole from getting clogged.
It's indeed a factory thing and applies to most tractors.
The reason you don't want to see oil coming out from it is because it usually means that either the transmission input shaft seal is bad or the engine rear main seal is bad.

My 3940 has it and oil comes out. Hydraulic oil so the seal on the transmission most likely needs replacing.
Thanks. Make sense. Just didn't look right not being painted grey when everything else is. They probably didn't want the paint to clog up the vent hole.

Now if it's a hydraulic shuttle like both mine are,. there is no floating pin because there is no clutch plate , just a damper plate so my hex bolts are solid, but I still pull them every time I change the oil to make sure the seals aren't leaking.
The pin is actually there to drain any water so your clutch plate don't freeze to the flywheel during long periods of non use. Back in the day Kubota had a welded on hook for the clutch pedal so you could lock it down with the clutch released to do the same thing.
Now if Kubota just put an idiot light on the dash to tell you when the parking brake was applied. that would be great.

You mean brake, not break. Neither of mine did, but they do now. I added it. Mist be some newer improvement. Mine are 2002 and 2004.My L3240hst has both the hook for the clutch and an idiot light for the parking break

I believe it was added to the 40 series, based on your name I assume you have the 30 series, and yeah, I just noticed my auto correct on my phone keeps insisting on changing brake to break now for some reason. Gotta love technology
