Take a jumper wire and clip it on the positive side of the ignition coil and put the other end on the positive side of the battery. Crank engine and if it starts, there is a break in the wire from the ignition switch to the coil. If it doesn't then you either have a bad coil or the points are burned out. Report back after you do this and we can go from there. What is the brand of engine and if necessary, I can send you to the correct engine group for further assistance.

Im not sure which one is the ignition coil, If you are talking about the coil/mangeto that supplies spark there is no positive termilnal to that just ground and the ground at the coil has coniunity.

In almost every case where I have had bad ignition on a small engine, it has been the points or condenser. You may have to pull the flywheel to get to them. They would have been the first things I would have replaced.

The positive terminal would be the wire going from the coil/magneto to the condenser.

The Kawasaki will have electronic ignition, do NOT cross 12 volts over on it or you will Fry it if not already bad. Sorry but that is all I know about it. Get a small engine repair manual that covers it , is my recommendation.

Polish the iron part of the coil that sets near the flywheel and the iron inserts in the edge of the flywheel that pass next to the coil with some emery cloth or sand paper before you buy any parts. One of my hands fixed his lawnmower that way today. I haven't bought a lawnmower in years, I pick 'em up off of trash piles and fix 'em and this is a very common reason for no spark.
