Need help configuring a Kubota M6040/7040

My youngest son and I both drove it and really liked the parking brake. I especially like it as when my sons set the brake on our other tractors I often have to use my cane to pry up while pushing the button to get moving.

Yes the brakes are nice especially in comparison to what we now have.

I will check on the cast iron wheels, but if I delay too much or go up in cost from our present price the CFO may decide to just fix our old tractor

On the M8540, the cast iron wheels are $912 more than the standard steel wheels. They get slightly cheaper the BIGGER you go in tire/wheel size. I don't know if you noticed, but on the M8540 you get the following tire/wheel sizes in R1s:

Front: 11.2-24 Rear: 18.4-28
Front: 12.4-24 Rear: 16.9-34
Front: 12.4-24 Rear: 18.4-30
Front: 12.4R24 Rear: 18.4R30 (radials)

You guys running R1s are lucky, you get a lot of tire/wheel options. Kubota only offers 1 size for R4s for a given tractor.

Thanks for the information, I checked on the tires yesterday and they were as above. They are Titan brand which I think is pretty standard on Kubotas.

I noticed in the posted pic of your M9540 that you have/use the Quicke loader. Would you mind sharing why you chose something other than a "matched" Kubota loader?

All very nice equipment. I'll add that I noticed in the background of the picture ... the new wood barn looks fantastic. -Thanks for sharing about the Quicke loader.

We have a tractor down and work that has to be done for my sons' business, so I am going with the one in stock; should be delivered next week; thanks to everyone for the input/information.

The biggest reason I went with the Quicke loader is it will lift more weight than the Kubota loader. I frequently lift pallets of sod and retaining wall block that are really heavy and the extra lift capacity helps. This is my third Quicke loader and I really like them. I believe that it cost about a $1000 more than the Kubota loader so I can't say I did it to save money. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the link to the pictures. I showed them to some friends, and your work and the finished barn certainly earned the admiration of all.

The Quicke loader is intriguing. I have just sourced a used L5740 with the Kubota 854 loader that I like and the price is good. The capacity of the 854 loader does concern me also, but the Quicke literature that I found led me to believe that Quicke does not make a loader for the L5740. The larger M tractors are appealing, but I don't think the size of the tractor is suitable around the horse barn or near the creeks and stock ponds. The M59 has the loader capacity that I want, but I just don't think I'll be happy with its performance as a pasture tractor.

maybe the m59? Its an L chassis with a heavy duty loader
