NO NO NO it is not mine! A friend of mine in the trades sent me a file with a bunch of code violations. One has to wonder how anyone would think that was safe!

at least they used wire nuts and didn't try to stuff them into the box and put a cover on it.

The fuse box was on the other side of the main room so it would have required climbing under the camp to run the wire, why do that!

That should be in a 3-4 gang box, have an extension on it (and clamps to hold the wires in) or split be into several boxes.

I have often fantasized: "If the contractors would do things properly, there would be no need for building codes".
Unfortunately, no amount of codes will keep some contractors, and most home owners, from doing things they shouldn't. This unfairly leaves the honest, generally limited to the book. And the rest doing this.

I actually had a friend who in the late 70's had to upgrade the service when they got a sewing machine(industrial).That required a 75 foot orange 14 gauge extension out the window and to the'temp service'. The temp had one outlet that had a six way plug in it and the it was branched off to your standard three way plugs.
The ground had to be snipped off in order to plug in.
Quite a site, but they lived a good long life accident free thank god.
Oh also this house was a former hot dog stand that was trailered into the land and sat tilted for years. They used two by four stubs under the table legs to keep it level.Years later we jacked it up on one end it took three standard blocks height to level it.LOL

The "fixer upper" that was on the land we have, looked nice with paneling and a fair number of outlets. The wire from one outlet to the other was not in the walls but just sandwiched between the two layers of paneling . We've since given up on the "fixer upper" and only use it for storage, with no electric except for one light that I wired directly to the fuse box.

Well, it looks sort of organized and tidy, at least he didn't use masking tape, and it is in the attic. If the inspector passed it , it must be legal.

It is a little suspicious that all the romex is the same size, and age, and all the wire nuts appear to be the same brand.
To be this messed up, you would think it would have to had to have been modified several times, which usually is obvious, due to lots of it being
different.
That, coupled with the fact that this would be illogical to do in the first place, causes me to wonder if it's possible, that this is a hoax.

I was gonna say 2-3 6x6 boxes, the cubic inch per connection/wire requirments are getting stricter all the time.

Maybe not a Hoax but maybe a display of what NOT to do. We have training areas with all sorts of displays and you have to figure out "what is wrong here?"
What's wrong here as in what would it take to be code, or do you men were is the faulty circuit? Because, the latter seems sort of a moot point since you going to undo all this if you touch it anyway.
I have been trying to think of a situation where I would have (17) 12/2's going in and out of one remote location. It does not seem to be at all necessary, in any scenario I can think of.
