That is an option, this one is setup as a multiple choice poll though. You can only vote once, but you can select more than one option.

That doesn't make any sense at all. Is this the millennial thinking....."every body is a winner" just by participating?

Back when I went to school, even with multiple choices, we could only select one answer. :confused3:

Depends on how the poll is constructed. I think Aaron or whoever just threw that up as an example. Don't bust him up as I believe he was just showing the capability. Multiple choice option can be worthwhile. Think, "check all that apply" to you.

Exactly. They can be multiple choice, or only allow selecting one option. They can also let people vote once, or to vote multiple times. You can also choose to make the results of who voted for what public, or not.
The polls can also be time limited, or not.

Reminds me of people who have nothing better to do than join clubs and vote on whether or not they should vote. Pathetic.

Maybe that old phrase, get a life, applies.

I really dislike the way "like" buttons are used on other forums I visit. I completely ignore the function as well as other people's use of it, as it does nothing to add value for me. Some people like everything, some people like stuff that is wrong/misleading, some people like rude/banworthy posts adding to problems, etc.

I much prefer when people comment or use words to give feedback or a response. It adds so much more. It doesn't need to be something I agree with, but when people use words it's part of a discussion either way. If you like something, say so with words, and add your opinion/feedback about why.

Apparently, i'd not be as terrified about adding a new feature to TBN as some members are. :cool2:
While I previously commented about the dislike for the like after initially liking the like... I hear you. One can always ignore. :dance1:

Strange - I never thought of TBN as being a popularity contest for anybody. However - there are those who only participate in any social activity just for the instant gratification.

Is this the direction we want TBN to go - - I certainly hope not.

I look for honest opinion and fact - - what does popularity have to do with this??

I just don't umderstand why it's so hard to post a positive comment if you like something.

I can see a substantial difference in the "device" being used to post here. I have a full blown computer and keyboard. I would be posting a whole lot less - which may be great - if I had to use the keyboard on a smart phone. I have a flip phone - have NO IDEA how to send messages with it - do not want to know how.

Still - I would not want to see TBN become a site of "button push" replies.

Suggestion for Mohammed: Take a look at the Ford F-150 forum at: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/what-no-cd-player-2019-lariat-thats-dumb-427986/index22/#post5985199 which is just an example.

Note the "THANKS" button just to the right of choices for posting Replies. Seems to me that would be a very nice addition to ALL TBN forums. The result of using that button is that a 2 line barely noticeable Post is inserted, below the post being viewed, which says Thanks and states who it is from. That has none of the undesirable baggage of being associated with Facebook, serves an obvious purpose and I would think would meet approval of darn near everyone including most of the old grouches (like me...) . You might be creative and consider alternate titles for the same feature such as "Agree, Thanks" , a simple "Agree," or maybe "Concur, Thanks."

If you do not write code for this Forum of TBN then the least you should do is get a price for the mod from your software vendor. My guess is that you are one of their large customers and they owe a mod for free or very low cost.

3,766 of his 10,747 posts were thank you's and he was thanked 1,999 times in 1,673 posts. What's the difference between that and a like button? It still looks like a popularity contest.

I visit a forum that uses a "thanks" icon and records the number of times you've used it keeping tally next to your post count. It's totally a popularity contest with derogatory comments made toward those that don't use it. So immature.

If someone posts something on here that I appreciate I should acknowledge that with a posted "thank you". I can surely muster up that much enthusiasm.
