I'm in need of a head and head bolts for a deutz. The engine is a 3L912. My granpa gave me the tractor. He started tearing it down about 5 years ago and never finished. In the process he lost one of the heads and the bolts. Can someone point me in the right direction.

We are a Deutz Distributor. If you can provide to me the engine serial #, I can ensure that the correct headbolt is selected and we can quote to you on this.

Thanks I'll get it this weekend. Where is the serial number located on the engine?

This is what I came up with. The tag had this on it NR 6038816. PIN 70020. F3L912. 0826/15. PS S. HP 4. Hope this helps. The P in the PIN Could be a D

A quick search came up with a bunch of equipment that uses that engine. Apears to be high 40 to low 50 horsepower. Hopefully duetz can help you out with the headbolt and the head.

Any chance you have a photo we can look at?

You should be able to find new and/or used parts. The 912 series ran for a while. they were in 3-6 cylinders. F3L912, the F stands for a "mobile" engine (Deutz pronounced Doy-tz BTW, also builds very large stationary engines), the 3 number of cylinders, the L for Luft (air cooled) and the 912 series.

A W at the end means it has a pre-cup chamber in the head. Screw in injector, these were low emmission engines usually used in mines. Heads are different, head bolts are the same.

I rebuilt several hunder of these and other Deutz engines. I still some specs on these around the house somewhere.

Good Luck,
Rob
