I have a crank up material lift similar to this one, found it on craigslist five years ago:

You might need to build a landing platform on your storage area, to push the forks onto, if there is no clearance at the bottom for the casters.

That would make my current task of carrying 40 bundles of hardwood upstairs suck a lot less.

Something like that might be the ticket. Just saw one on Craigslist for a reasonable price but then noticed it did not have a telescoping mast and would only raise to 55". Also Titan has some clamp-on forks for 135.00 with free shipping. I will keep on trying to de-clutter my shop the hard way while i keep an eye out on craigslist.

I enjoy being able to get ideas from everyone. thanks.

After some more consideration I now think a modified Harbor freight hoist Will work for me. Saw some videos on Youtube where people made attic lifts using garage door parts and a harbor freight electric hoist. I already have the metal to make a platform and a torsion rod. Just need to source the drums, wire, and bearing plates. Looks like cheap enough on eBay. Hoist is less than 100 bucks.

I could see where using Harbor freight hoist, mounted on a rolling Trolley would be nice to have in a shop.

1 Ton Push Beam Trolley

I can also use my modified shop crane to put things up on the pallet rack:
