Need a Key for a YM2001

I need a key for a Yanmar YM2001. I've lost the original key that came with the tractor. I had purchased two new keys from Hoye tractor (YMKEY55) last week but neither key fits (too big). In the meantime, while I work with Hoye to get a new key I wanted to see if there are any other places on the net that sell keys for grey market Yanmars, specifically my tractor model (YM2001). Or does anyone have a Yanmar YM2001 and a spare key they'd be willing to sell.

Your tractor model is immaterial. The issue is what ignition switch is in it. An original ignition switch uses a very-common-to-many Yanmars key. If not OEM, only those who installed the switch will know where to get keys.

Hey Bitter, what state are you in? I have a coffee can full of old yanmar keys and odd ones

I believe the key I had was the original key that came with the tractor. It had Yanmar imprinted on it. My old key and the new replacement I was sent (which did not have Yanmar printed on it) are roughly the same size, the new key is just a little wider than my original key. It only goes in about half way.

I believe I have an original ignition switch that takes a short key. From what I've heard the key I received is likely for ignition switch that is upgraded and I have the original ignition switch that takes a shorter, narrower key.

I am wondering if you would have a key in that jar of yanmar keys to fit my YM135? The key I got is a JD key and that just doesnt sit right with me having a deere key in the yanmar. Mike
