Ok...had to split a Ford 1210, to put the tie rod end, back on the hydrostat drive rod. I amazed myself, you see it was my DAD that was the mechanic, Not Me. ANYWAYS, got it all put back together (no spare parts),started it up and it worked. Well atleast it did after, I beat the steering wheel, cause it wouldn't move. Bent my head down to cry, when I noticed, Someone put the range selector into "neutral"......Wait did I just admit that? lol

Here is the problem now...the hydrostat creeps now. you can't stop and take your foot off the drive pedal with out it moving. I split it Again, this time between the engine and transmission, instead of the tranny and rearend like 1st time. So I could look down and see if the Throw out bearing was in the clutch yoke, so clutch pedal would disengage it. And it was, so clutch should work.....WHY IS IT NOT DISENGAGING THE HYDROSTAT, where did I screw up at???

Before Surgery, the tractor would sit there running, with OUT the brake on and not move. Where do I go from here? She runs good, you can control her with the drive pedal, put back pressure on pedal and she doesn't creep, but that is not the right way.

Help......

Not a Ford mechanic, but do pretty dandy at web searches. I located another thread on another site that discusses removing an inspection cover and checking free-play on the control rods. There are adjustments and known issues with the assembly and such. See here and let us know what you find:

Good luck!

Yea, I know that thread VERY WELL. I'm same name on that site also.

I did that Surgery on my 1210, I'm no mechanic, but I Did It....

So why is my tractor moving.....I think I might have an idea why. That is the Drive Rod for the hydrostat drive pedal. What happens is one end strips out, so you have to Repair it. I'm thinking that my LENGTH is off, so the pedal is slightly engaged. I will remove the inspection plate and shorten the rod one turn and see what happens. Will keep you all up to date...

One day, I am going to make a thread for Ford 1210 owners, on how to split a 1210 apart, to repair that rod.

Took the cover off underside and yes, the tie rod was to short. When I lengthened the rod, I got the tractor to sit, without inching forward..
