My Dad has retired from farming, he is 88 years young, but he has all this equipment that is SITTING and doing NOTHING. I do not want this going to some scrap dealer as it should be easy to find a new home where it will be loved and cherished... even if it is just admired during plow day.

This was purchased new by my Dad. He did an upgrade of the moldboards to Yetter. He also had "arms" put on the back, to add a culivator / harrow to go behind the plowing.

He could pick this up and move it to a different field... He is still giving me Plow 101 lessons. Each day I learn something new. This only has one wheel in the back. It has a jack like arm on the front, to keep it out of the ground and tipping when parked. It has controls where you can set the depth.

It will reset and you just back up and go again.

Any help about model, price or a new owner... would be greatly appreciated. Dad got a gator this spring, what an amazing machine. Then he got a JD 4600 with a cab with heat and plans to plow snow this winter. He figures if he gets rid of his old toys, he can buy a back blade for his new toy.

Thanks,
Ann in western Iowa

That is a very nice plow! I wish I had it. I am not too familiar with Deere models but your Dads plow is a three bottom, with coulters, and should be very desirable, and worth around $1000 in my opinion. Although farmers don't use plows as much as they once did, this one would be perfect for hunters planting food plots, where there is a strong market for implements such as this. I am sure others will have more knowledge of these.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and for this information.

Around here I am not sure about hunters doing food plots... We buy our crack corn and salt blocks at the Co-op for the pheasants and deer. We don't hunt, not after moving to the country and watching them every day. countryliving

I sent an email this a.m. as I couldn't find the button that said "quick reply" until now.

I had a guy who came to pick up a Cockshutt 622 wagon Dad had for sell. It was not the person who purchased it.... I have never had this happen before, but then I have never sold farm equipment.

I asked Dad if this plow came with the culivator arms or harrow arms, he thought it did. Has anyone ever seen it with these two arms before?

Could he have had them made and put on? I don't picture him going to the point of having them painted green.... his thing is function of the machine... more so then matching paint. He used this plow with a 4020. He thought he had gotten it in 1977, but another person said 4020 were made earlier... so maybe 1967?

Thanks again
Ann

Well, I have been offered $375 and $500 for the plow.

a 2 bottom in my parts usually go for $250

3 bottom are 350-500 as mentioned

but note that the rule of thumb is like 15hp per bottom. my tractor will barely pull my 2x16 dearborn. When i have it set up well and the plows shined up its still a HARD pull. hardest thing i do with my tractor.

I would like to have it but I don't think my tractor would like it very much. Nice plow.

Not sure of the model #, but that style plow was used in the 3010 era (early 60's). ~~ grnspot110

Thanks for the comments. I have learned so MUCH about plowing... thank you all so much.

Could this plow have come with the 3020?? Dad had a 3020 and a 4020.

I am in west central Iowa.

I am in shock to the people who I have told their lawn tractor or ATV will not pull this plow. They also didn't believe me when I said there was not a 2 wheel trailer this came with....... and was a full mount plow.

The last guy I talked to was in the field and had posted he was looking for this plow.... so, he knew the HP needed to pull this plow. He is supposed to be here on Saturday, but since he still has his ad up, not sure if he will show or not.

Very possible, the 4 bottom I had like it came from a man who had a 3020 at one time.

I actually only owned it for a couple of hours, bought it at a farm auction to use with my 1958 - 720D. Another guy showed up wanting to sell a different model JD plow, bought it, sold this one on the spot! :D ~~ grnspot110
