'16 Polaris Sportsman 450. Anyone know what this socket is used for? It is capped off under the left handlebar.

No, it disappears into the harness inside the pod. There isn't another one on the right side. Seems to be too many wires just for a horn button.

Possibly? But according to the service manual only the SPORTSMAN FOREST 570 EFI / EPS came with a factory installed winch.
But you are correct!

It is part of the winch control. It's the prewiring for the switch if you add winch.
