MY2012 5085M ordered today!

Nah. It's a 2006 model and I paid $37.5k for it last spring and after selling my previous car for $20k, I effectively paid on $17.5k for it. New, it was $96k, but they depreciate like crazy, especially now with the ~600hp next generation out. The E60 M5 I have is still plenty quick with 507hp and the 7 speed SMG transmission. The 5085M is going to be my most expensive vehicle purchase ever. I'm doing the 60 month 0% thing, so with my down payment, that works out to just under $1000/month, which I can swing.

That tractor looks like a dogs breakfast.... Honestly it's terrible. :laughing:

It has been on their lot for over a year. They are asking $30k for it. The tach/hour meter stopped working at 2800 hours. They estimate it has about 4000 on it now. It was rented out to some farmer in West Virginia last summer for hay work. It pops out of ranges C and D all the time. Service guy told me to try to avoid those if possible. He also said to keep an eye on the engine oil level as it burns some. I also noticed oil on my shop floor. I'm sure it has had a rough life. Check out the operator's seat wear:

But I'm not complaining, having this free loaner for the next 2-3 months until my M comes in is going to be real nice. I hope to have my stumps done and those 2 acres plowed by then.

I priced the bent stabilizer bar link end. $118! Yikes. I'll see if they can straighten in out first. The 3 pieces that make up the missing lift link pin adds up to about $30, which I don't mind paying for myself. That's not a bad "rent fee" for 3 months.

I went for a short drive around the property, and this 6405 is quite a tractor compared to my 4700! The rears are filled, so this thing is probably is over 10k lbs with the loader.

More than that. The 6405 is almost 10K without the loader. With the loader attached, you're probably more in the 12-13K range. Take it easy with that tractor on the single tandem trailer.

BTW, your new M with the loader will weigh a little over 10K. My 5085M, with a 8' hay mower attached, is almost more weight than my 24' single tandem wants!

I agree with BigFoot, that 6405 with loader is a pushing your trailer to the max.

I'm not sure how that 3pt hoe works on the Deere, but I had one on my IH 544 and it killed the previous owner while working in his barn. BE CAREFUL if the lift arms float up and down.

Congrats on ordering your new "M". You will not be disappointed. I know that I LOVE my "M".

I don't know if you realize it yet, but you need to plan on building a larger shop!!:thumbsup:

No, I would say it's because of a rigid top link. And, if you start pulling on something with the hoe perpendicular to the tractor, I would say that you could break the tractor's cast iron top link mount. That could get expensive.
I would suggest that you try to keep the hoe boom pointed as straight back as possible, when digging stumps, etc. I know it has stabilizers, but they can slide on hard soil or sink into soft spots. That would put a lot of strain on that top link. JMHO

Yikes, that seat looks terrible almost as bad as my 5310s. I guess someone was having a little bit too much fun on the seat. :laughing: My 5420 has about 4200 hours on it and it still costs more than that ugly tractor (~30k)

I guess we cant race with the 6405 then..

When does your 5085M show up? I guess I can bring my 3 bottom plow on my 5085M and plow those 2 acres for you but.... as long you supply transport, food and somewhere to live?

And whats that strange bar coming off of the backhoe on the picture with the backhoe fully extended?

I don't know how much Zebrafive's 6415 costs but I rather take that than the 6405. :laughing:

Holy crap, I gotta visit more often. Not only has pclausen bought his tractor but it looks like he has also picked up everything but the kitchen sink for it and judging by all the stuff in his shop that might be there too!

Little late to the party, but way to go with that excellent combination you purchased. Sweet, sweet machine and I'm sure you'll love it.

Someone really didn't like that 6405, it sure looks like its had a hard life. I know I would never shell out the $30k they want for it. It sure is a large tractor though. Hopefully you can get most of the rough work done with it and save the wear on the 5085M...

You've got an awesome shop and all those goodies to go with it! :thumbsup: Do you have a plasma cutter to go along with that air compressor?

Spent some browsing time lookin' at the JD 595 backhoe.. It specs out very closely to the JD 110 backhoe.

I also noted that it has a sub-frame mounting system. Couldn't find any pics of the mount, though. Of course, the Deere brochure mentioned the superiority of the mounting system versus the 3pt attachment and focused on "frame stresses".

I'd be very suspect that Deere would stand behind any repairs that might be necessary if the backhoe use were to damage your new $70,000 tractor!

The regional sales rep might have a different opinion than your dealer salesman...

Whoa... that backhoe is a real beast!! Very heavy duty! Looking at the boom, etc. I'd have to wonder if there are some components that are "common" to the manufacture of other Deere backhoe's.

Like the JD110 and the units that are built for skid-steer loaders. Very similar looking. Thanks for the pics.

I'm questioning the difference between that 595 and a 310's hoe. That is one beast. I think it would look really good mounted on my 5410

Now... this might surprise you - but, the hoe on the 110 specs out better than the 595! Dig depth, crowd and curl functions are greater on the 110. Also, (you'd expect this) the ground reach is greater on the 110.

One real reason I decided not to sell my 110.

Good advice. I plan to go slow at first and keep the angle within 10-15 degrees of perpendicular (that should let me get the roots on either side of the stump).

April/May is what I'm being told. Hopefully it will be sooner, but that is what the computer says right now.

That is just a green piece of metal trim that I moved outside. I can see how it almost looks like it it part of the hoe in that picture.

Yeah, this 6405 quite rough around the edges. I noticed that the cab is very dusty. I guess either it was used with the rear/side windows open a lot working bare dirt, or these things don't have sealed cabs.
